  • Patent number: 5728432
Abstract: The present invention provides:an aqueous surface-treating agent used for surface treatment of reinforcing material, which includes a carbodiimide compound as a main component, a reinforcing material surface-treated with the above aqueous surface-treating agent, and a composite material comprising a matrix and the above reinforcing material. The aqueous surface-treating agent has good storage stability, gives no bad effect on human health owing to no use of organic solvent and, when used for the surface treatment of a reinforcing material, can provide a surface-treated reinforcing material which can produce a composite material comprising a matrix, the surface-treated reinforcing material having high adhesivity between the two components.

  • Patent number: 5688875
Abstract: A hydrophilic tetramethylxylylenecarbodiimide represented by the following formula (1): ##STR1## wherein n is an average polymerization degree and is an integer of 1 to 30; R.sub.1 is a residue of an organic compound having a hydrophilic segment and at least one functional group reactive with an isocyanate group; and X is a group formed by the reaction of the functional group with the isocyanate group. The carbodiimide is free from the problems of the prior art, has good storage stability and accordingly is usable as an easy-to-handle crosslinking agent for hydrophilic resin.

  • Patent number: 5488170
Abstract: A process for producing 3-methyl-1-phenylphospholene oxide by subjecting dichlorophenylphosphine and isoprene to an addition reaction and then subjecting the resulting adduct to solvolysis, wherein the addition reaction between dichlorophenylphosphine and isoprene is conducted in a solvent to obtain an adduct in the form of a slurry or solution and the slurry or solution is subjected to solvolysis. This process can easily produce 3-methyl-1-phenylphospholene oxide which is used in various reactions, and is free from the drawbacks of the conventional process.
