Abstract: An image processing system including an image read section for reading an image on a document, data compressing means for compressing image data as read by the image read section, data decompressing means for decompressing the image data compressed by the data compressing means, an image output section for outputting the image data as decompressed by the data decompressing means in the form of a hard copy, data storage means for storing the image data as compressed by the data compressing means, a page buffer for storing the data of a plurality of pages every page, the data being transferred to and from the data storage means, and control means for controlling the compressing and decompressing of the data by the data compressing means and the data decompressing means, and the data transfer between the data storage means and the page buffer that is done every page.

Abstract: An image processor is disclosed which displays an image of a document on a display unit by storing image data of said document in a storing unit and providing the image data read from the storing unit to the display unit. The image processor includes a lattice image data memory for storing lattice image data from which a specified set of the lattice image data having a desired lattice pattern may be selected and superimposed on the image data read from the storing unit and provided to the display unit. A second document having the same lattice pattern superimposed on it, may also be simultaneously displayed on the display unit in order to facilitate editing of the documents.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus and corresponding methods which include a means for determining whether image information of documents read by an image reader can be entirely stored in a storage device prior to performing image processing. The apparatus comprises, in part, an arithmetic operation component which calculates the number of sheets of the documents, (the image information of which are supplied through an image input device such as a scanner so as to be stored in a compressed state) corresponding to the residual storage capacity of a storage device. The apparatus also includes a display device for displaying the number calculated by the arithmetic operation component.
