    Abstract: A projection type image display device correctly detects the position of contact of an electronic pen and a finger on a manipulation surface without the provision of a touch sensor. Light containing an image is projected, illuminating light that is different from the light containing the image is projected onto a manipulation surface which at least partially overlaps an image projection surface onto which the light has been projected, and an image of the manipulation surface is captured. A first detection process detects the position at which a first object being manipulated, a distal end of which emits light, touches the manipulation surface, a second detection process detects the position at which a second object being manipulated, which does not emit light, touches the manipulation surface, and at least part of the image being displayed is changed on the basis of the detection result from either detection process.

    Abstract: A manipulation detection device includes a first manipulation detection process based on detection of light emission of an electronic pen (a first manipulation object) and a second manipulation detection process based on detection of a shadow of a finger (a second manipulation object) by radiation of illumination light. An image sensor captures an image of the electronic pen and an image of the finger, and image signal processing units perform a contrast adjustment of the captured image. Here, a state of the contrast adjustment performed by the image signal processing unit differs between the captured image of the electronic pen and the captured image of the finger. Manipulation detecting units execute a manipulation detection process for the electronic pen and the finger using the captured image which has undergone the contrast adjustment.

The A/D converter converts the waveform filtered by the analog filter into a first digital signal. The first electronic circuit includes a digital filter and acquires a second digital signal by performing signal processing including at least a filtering process on the servo signal by using the digital filter. The second electronic circuit acquires a third digital signal by subtracting the second digital signal from the first digital signal. A setting for the signal processing for acquiring the second digital signal is changed on the basis of the third digital signal.
