Abstract: An algorithm for preliminary firing of ink droplets through inkjet nozzles prior to inkjet printing operation is disclosed. According to this algorithm, a calculation is made of a scheduled time of a next nozzle-cleaning operation which succeeds a time instant at which a last firing operation was implemented, by a predetermined reference-time-interval, and an operation is performed concerning a reduction in a frequency at which the nozzle-cleaning operation is repeated, by monitoring the calculated scheduled-time of nozzle-cleaning operation, on a time-line basis.

Abstract: A communication device is configured to transmit data to which a predetermined security level is set to another communication device. The communication device is provided with a security level determining unit configured to determine a necessary security level to transmit the data in accordance with the security level set to the data, a security setting unit configured to re-set the security level that is determined by the security level determining unit to the data, a security procedure executing unit configured to apply a security procedure to the data so that a requirement of the security level set by the security setting unit is satisfied, and a data transmitting unit configured to transmit the data to which the security procedure has been applied.

Abstract: An information-processing system comprises an information-processing device including a plurality of communication interfaces, a first storing system configured to store first setting values to be configured for each of the plurality of communication interfaces and second setting values configurable in common for the plurality of communication interfaces for each of the plurality of communication interfaces, a second storing system configured to store the second setting values, a setting mode determining system configured to select one of a first setting mode where setting values are configured for each of the plurality of communication interfaces and a second setting mode where setting values configurable in common are configured in common for the plurality of communication interfaces, a reading system configured to read out a setting value from the first storing system and second storing system, and an updating system configured to update the setting value read out by the reading system.

Abstract: In a communication system having a client and a server capable of communicating with each other via a network, the server can transmit a command to the client in response to a command request transmitted from the client to the server. The server may include a replying unit that transmits replaying data in response to the command received from the client in such a manner that (a) if there is a command to be transmitted to the client, replying data including the command is transmitted to the client, and (b) if there is not a command to be transmitted to the client, replying data, which does not include a command is transmitted to the client. Further, the replying unit may transmit the replying data without a command to the client when a no-command status lasts a predetermined standby period after receipt of the command request.

Abstract: An information display device (for displaying identification information necessary for realizing communication via a network, for which a number of notational systems have been specified, in a prescribed display area on a display unit) includes a check unit which checks the size of the display area for displaying the identification information and an information display control unit which lets the display unit display the identification information in the display area in a notational system suitable for the size of the display area checked by the check unit.

Abstract: When a management PC (as an address information display device in an address information display system) displays IPv6 addresses that have been assigned to a device in the system, the addresses may be displayed in a pull-down menu, for example. The display order in the pull-down menu may be determined according to a priority order which can be set arbitrarily by the user. Further, addresses judged to be important (according to settings by the user) may be displayed using a bold font, local addresses are displayed in italic, addresses close to the expiration of term of validity may be grayed out) and invalid addresses (addresses already expired) may be grayed out with strikethroughs. As a result, an address information display system may be realized that is capable of displaying addresses assigned to a device in a style easy for the user to understand.

The web server 10 manages information about components in the control portion 5, the user I/F portion 2, the printer 3, and the scanner 4. The web server 14 manages information about components in the LAN interface portion 12. The web servers 10, 14 are configured for mutual transmission. The web server 14 is connected to a LAN through a network control portion. When information that is managed by the web server 10 is requested from a terminal that is connected to the LAN, then the web server 14 functions as a proxy server to transfer the requested input from the LAN to the web server 10 and to transmit information transferred from the web server 10 to the requestor.

Abstract: A document control memory makes document name data corresponding to document data and stores the document name data when an instruction is input from a keyboard so that all document data of a plurality of documents stored in the text memory are stored on a floppy disk. A display is controlled so that all document names are displayed on the display based on the document name data stored in the document control memory. The document data stored in the text memory is transferred onto the floppy disk in the order of storage in the document control memory. A display identifies the document name of the document being stored on the floppy disk during storage to distinguish the document being stored on the floppy disk from the other documents in text memory in order to show progress in the storage and to identify where, during storage, an error occurs should such happen.
