Abstract: A method and system for an automatic people matching with a mutual commit process is described. The process includes a recommender system that generates people recommendations based, at least in part, on inferences of preferences derived from system usage behaviors. The process also includes variations of a mutual commitment process that may only reveal a first party's interest in making their expression of interest with a second party if a reciprocal interest in revealing expression of interest is indicated.

Abstract: Methods of applying adaptive social computing systems are disclosed. The social computing systems include capabilities to generate adaptive recommendations and representations of social networks derived, at least in part, from inferences of the preferences and interests of system users based on a plurality of usage behaviors, spanning a plurality of usage behavior categories. The behavioral categories include system navigation behaviors, content referencing behaviors, collaborative behaviors, and the monitoring of physical location and changes in location. Privacy control functions and compensatory functions related to insincere usage behaviors can be applied. Adaptive recommendation delivery can take the form of visual-based or audio-based formats.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method of adaptive social network management is disclosed. The social networks comprise a network of computer-implemented objects representing people and may include content that has a relation to one or more of the people. The adaptive social network management system provides functions to generate social network metrics associated with people that are determined derivatively from interactions with objects that have a relationship with the corresponding people. The adaptive social network management system can also generate affinities among computer-implemented objects that represent people from inferences of the interests of the people. Social network representations are generated and applied that include the social network metrics and/or affinities.

Abstract: An adaptive self-modifying system, a recombinant fuzzy network system, and an adaptive recombinant system are disclosed. The adaptive self-modifying system includes functions and algorithms for the self modification of structural elements, including relationships among system objects of the adaptive self-modifying system, based at least in part on usage behaviors associated with the system. The recombinant and adaptive recombinant systems feature functions for syndicating and combining fuzzy networks. The combining of the structural elements of the adaptive recombinant system may be based, at least in part, on usage behaviors associated with the system, and may be preferentially recombined based on evaluations of network “fitness.

Usage metrics associated the fuzzy network and its subsets are generated by the adaptive fuzzy network system, including metrics associated with people derivatively based on objects with which they are associated.

Adaptive recommendations may be generated and delivered from a first constituent system to a second constituent system based, at least in part, on interactive behaviors between the two systems. Delivery of these adaptive recommendations may include modification of structural aspects of the recipient constituent system. One or more of the constituent systems may include a representation of one or more people, and a first constituent system may include a representation of a second constituent system.

Abstract: A system and method of advertising in computer-implemented social networks is disclosed. The influence level of members of the social network and explicit and inferred relationships among members are determined. Advertisements are delivered in association with content objects representing one or more members of the social network, where the content objects may include member profiles, as well as other content that is associated with the member. Selection of the advertisements may be based on inferences of member interests derived from system usage behaviors, as well as explicit indicators of members' interests and preferences.

Abstract: A system and method of advertising based on the automatic determination of an advertising recipient's location and inferences of preferences derived from usage behaviors is disclosed. The advertising recipient's location that is considered in delivering a specific advertisement may be the current location or one or more historical locations. Proximity considerations with regard to other people, locations, or physical objects may influence the advertisement that is to be delivered. The advertisement may be delivered to a mobile device that has location-aware capabilities such as a Global Positioning System-based system.

Abstract: A method and system for adapting computer-based personalities, as manifested by textual or audio communications, is disclosed. The communications comprise one or more phrases that may be selected non-deterministically. The frequency distribution of the plurality of potential phrases is updated based on the behaviors of the communications recipients. Thus, the frequency of the selection of phrases included in communications, and hence the “personality,” of the computer-based system, is influenced by prior usage behaviors. The computer-based personality may also exhibit “self-awareness' by monitoring changes in phrase frequency distributions over time, as well as being capable of expressing awareness of, and inferences from, changes in the behavior patterns of users over time.

Abstract: A method and system for generating adaptive explanations for associated recommendations is disclosed. The adaptive explanations comprise a syntactical structure and associated phrases that are selected in accordance with usage behaviors and/or inferences associated with usage behaviors. The phrases included in an adaptive explanation may be selected through application of a non-deterministic process. The adaptive explanations may be beneficially applied to recommendations that are associated with content, products, and people, including recommendations that comprise advertisements.
