    Abstract: In a state where a sensor element heated by a heater part with a heater element being energized according to a predetermined duty ratio is at a normal drive temperature, the duty ratio is monitored, when reduction of the duty ratio from a normal value corresponding to the normal drive temperature is detected, the duty ratio is further reduced to reduce a temperature of the sensor element to a protective drive temperature, and the duty ratio is increased at a timing when a predetermined protective drive time has elapsed to return the temperature of the sensor element to the normal drive temperature, and, when the duty ratio at a timing when the temperature of the sensor element is returned to the normal drive temperature is smaller than the normal value, the duty ratio is reduced again to reduce the temperature of the sensor element to the protective drive temperature.

Washers are laid on and brought into contact with respective opposite surfaces relative to joining surfaces of the laminated plate materials, the washers each having an inner hole through which the rivet shaft portion is allowed to pass, the washers are used as jigs at the time of the punching, the punching by means of the rivet shaft portion is performed along the inner holes of the washers, and the joining is performed so that the washers left between the rivet head and the crimp portion and the opposite surfaces.

    Abstract: A generation of rust or electric corrosion between a rivet and a member is prevented by enhancing a degree of sealing between the rivet and the member. A first enlarged-diameter portion 16 and a second enlarged-diameter portion 20 are provided between a head part 12 and a leg part 14 of a rivet 10. A space portion 32 is formed among an upper layer workpiece 24, the first enlarged-diameter portion 16 and the second enlarged-diameter portion 20 in a state where the rivet 10 is driven into the upper layer workpiece 24 and a lower layer workpiece 26. Because of the existence of the space portion 32, the contact between the upper layer workpiece 24 and the first enlarged-diameter portion 16, and between the upper layer workpiece 24 and the second enlarged-diameter portion 20 can be secured. Therefore, the degree of sealing between the rivet 10 and the upper layer workpiece 24 is improved.
