In some embodiments, devices for generating a gunshot alert are provided, the devices comprising: a microphone having an output; an amplifier having an input coupled to the output of the microphone and an output; a band-pass filter having an input coupled to the output of the amplifier and an output; an analog to digital converter having an input coupled to the output of the band-pass filter and an output; a microcontroller having an input coupled to the output of the analog to digital converter and an output; and a notification device having an input coupled to the output of the microcontroller.
