  • Patent number: 10127251
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for organizing on-disk layout of index structures are provided herein. A method includes organizing an on-disk corpus of data index structures; partitioning each data index structure into an active and/or latest state data partition and an archived data partition; sub-partitioning each of the archived data partitions into sub-partitions based on exact lifespan of each data item; executing a search query that includes temporal predicates and keyword predicates across the corpus by: pruning a collection of identified items of data from the corpus that contain the keyword predicates using range metadata associated with the temporal predicates to generate a pruned list of data items; and performing a list intersection operation on the data index structures to generate a list of common data items from the pruned list; retrieving the common data items from the active and/or latest state data partitions and the archived data sub-partitions.

  • Patent number: 9471715
Abstract: Methods and arrangements for evaluating a regular expression. Text strings are received. A regular expression is also received, the regular expression comprising a pattern for specifying and recognizing at least one text string from among the received text strings. There is generated, with respect to the received text strings, a data structure containing grams with positional information. The data structure is employed to evaluate the regular expression via identifying a subset of the text strings comprising at least one match for the given regular expression. Other variants and embodiments are broadly contemplated herein.

  • Patent number: 9195711
Abstract: Methods and arrangements for storing and retrieving nested structures. A nested structure is obtained. There are created slices containing arbitrary sub-structures of the nested structure. The content of slices is stored in one or more columns of a column-oriented data store. At least one access plan for accessing slices in the data store is developed, to be used when a projection query is received. The access plan is executed to construct a nested structure that answers the projection query. Other variants and embodiments are broadly contemplated herein.

  • Patent number: 8495352
Abstract: A framework instantiates an application from its disk snapshots. The disk snapshots are taken from a different network environment and migrated to a virtualized environment. Modifications to operating systems and hypervisors are avoided, and no special network isolation support is required. The framework is extensible and plug-in based, allowing product experts to provide knowledge about discovering, updating, starting and stopping of software components. This knowledge base is compiled into a plan that executes various interleaved configuration discovery, updates and start tasks such that a required configuration model can be discovered with minimal start and update task execution. The plan generation automatically stitches together knowledge for the various products, thus significantly simplifying the knowledge specification.

  • Publication number: 20080183855
Abstract: A method and a system for resolving problems in an enterprise system which contains a plurality of servers forming a cluster coupled via a network. A central controller is configured to monitor and control the plurality of servers in the cluster. The central controller is configured to poll the plurality of servers based on pre-defined rules and identify an alarm pattern in the cluster. The alarm pattern is associated with one of the servers in the cluster and a possible root cause is identified by the central controller with labeled alarm pattern in a repository and a possible solution is recommended to overcome the identified problem that has been associated with the alarm pattern. Information in the repository is adapted based on feedback about the real root cause obtained from the administrator.
