  • Patent number: 6871503
Abstract: The purpose is to improve the mixture ratio of a pre-mixer by a simple arrangement to form a more uniform premixed gases so as to materialize low NOx combustion. Two fuel nozzles disposed circumferentially of a pre-mixer are combined with a single air intake window to make a set, which set is used to produce swirls in a pair, thereby expediting mixing. Further, the inlet window is shaped such that its circumferential width is changed axially of the combustor, thereby changing the strength and size of the swirls to achieve the greatest effect. By reducing both the pre-mixer inlet windows and the partition walls in number, the manufacturing cost can be reduced, and by strengthening and optimizing the swirls, a combustor with superior low NOx performance can be provided, while it is possible to reduce the length of the pre-mixer necessary to obtain the same mixture ratio, leading to a cost reduction.

  • Patent number: 5899074
Abstract: A gas turbine combustor having a fuel injection nozzle for diffusion combustion disposed in a central portion of the combustor and an annular premixed nozzle disposed in an outer peripheral portion of the fuel injection nozzle for injecting a mixed gas of fuel and air. The annular premixed nozzle includes an annular premixing chamber and a plurality of premixed fuel nozzles for injecting fuel into the annular premixing chamber. The annular premix nozzle is divided by a partition (108) to form a plurality of premixing chambers each adjacent to the fuel injection nozzle for diffusion combustion. Each of the premixing chambers includes at least one of the premixed fuel nozzles. A mechanism is provided for supplying fuel to a predetermined number of the premixing chambers in a low load operation of the gas turbine and for supplying fuel to all of the premixing chambers in a high load operation.

  • Patent number: 5660045
Abstract: The present invention has an object to provide a gas turbine combustor which is able to effect stable combustion in a wide range of fuel flow rate. A burner 1 is provided with fuel nozzles 31 and 32. When a fuel flow rate is small, diffusion flame is formed with fuel supplied from the nozzle 31 with a ring-shaped flame stabilizer 11. Next, fuel is supplied from the nozzle 32 to mix with air, reach to the flame stabilizer 11 and be held by the diffusion flame already formed, whereby stable premixed flames are formed in the flame stabilizer 11 from a range of low fuel air ratio. Further, when flame is propagated from the burner 1 to the burner 2, a fuel air ratio at the outer periphery side of the burner 1 is locally raised by the fuel supplied from the nozzle 31, whereby the combustion stability can be raised in a wide range of fuel flow rate and propagation of flame to adjacent burners becomes easy.

  • Patent number: 5630320
Abstract: A gas turbine combustor is provides with a stabilizer at a downstream side of a premixing device for premixing and supplying fuel and air into a combustion chamber. The stabilizer has a cylindrical part extending axially from an upstream end thereof to a downstream end and a stabilizing part at the downstream end of the cylindrical part for stabilizing a flame, and the stabilizer is mounted on an inside of the combustor by a plurality of members arranged annularly and secured to the inside of the combustor at their ends, each of the members having a part slidably inserted in an opening of the cylindrical part so as to restrict the stabilizer to move axially while allowing deformation of the stabilizer and another part supporting the upstream end of the cylindrical part so as to restrict radial movement of the stabilizer.

  • Patent number: 4338780
Abstract: Part of high-pressure air is extracted from the vicinity of the final stage of a compressor and is introduced into a water spraying chamber, and water at the normal temperature is injected into the high-pressure air from a nozzle installed in the water spraying chamber, to prepare a cooled coolant. The coolant sometimes contains water drops. The cooled coolant is fed into coolant passageways which are provided inside a moving blade in a manner to extend from the root part to the tip of the moving blade. When the coolant passes through the passageways, the moving blade is cooled by the coolant, and after the cooling, the coolant is emitted into a turbine main gas passageway. In case where the water drops are contained in the coolant, they vaporize during the cooling of the moving blade, to cool the air of the coolant, to suppress the temperature rise of the coolant and to enhance the cooling effect.

  • Patent number: 4293275
Abstract: A blade cooling construction comprising a cylindrical hollow and a nozzle, both of which are defined in and by the blade. The hollow and nozzle create a vortex of cooling gas introduced into the blade, which gas whirls about the axis of the hollow by tangentially injecting the cooling gas into the hollow through the nozzle. A portion of the cooling gas is lowered in temperature, and the other portion is raised in temperature. The lower temperature cooling gas is introduced first to a central portion of the blade height which is higher in temperature than the remaining portions of the blade. The higher temperature cooling gas is introduced to a lower temperature portion of the blade.

  • Patent number: 4171617
Abstract: A solar thermal electric power system, in which a solar collector, a heat storage vessel filled with a thermal storage material adapted to effect a phase change between solid and liquid internally, a turbine, a condenser, a condensate storage tank, a feed water pump are connected in a closed loop by suitable conduits. A first control valve is provided en route between the solar collector and a heat storage vessel. An steam accumulator filled with water is connected via a second control valve in a pipe route between the solar collector and the first control valve, as well as to a pipe route between the first control valve and the heat storage vessel via a third control valve. The temperature of a fluid flowing out of the solar collector is detected, and when the temperature detected is to be lower than a set temperature, then the first control valve is controlled so as to be closed, while the second control valve is opened.
