  • Patent number: 5263728
Abstract: A low profile wheelchair includes first and second frame portions that may be selectively spaced apart in an operative position and brought together in a stored position. Armrests, seat back, and footrests are each pivotally mounted to the frame portions so as to minimize the height and length of the wheelchair in a storage position.

  • Patent number: 4834413
Abstract: A collar or body portion (40) has an inner surface (42) that defines a circular bore (44) therethrough. A cam surface (46) is recessed into the collar portion from the circular bore. The collar is disposed with a tubular member (22) extending through the circular bore with a spring biased detent (30) engaging the cam surface. A series of upper plateaus or segments (60) and lower plateaus or segments (62) hold the detent against the cam surface as the collar is rotated. A handle portion (64) facilitates manually rotating the collar to depress or release the spring biased detent.

  • Patent number: 4721321
Abstract: The sports wheelchair includes a frame portion (A) having left and right side frame portions. Rear wheel assemblies (B) are connected with the left and right side frame portions such that the rear wheels are connectable to the frame in any one of a plurality of positions and with an adjustable camber. A pair of front wheel assemblies (C) selectively interconnect front wheels with the frame with any one of a plurality of adjustable height, inward-outward, and forward-aft positions. An operator supporting seat (D) having a segmented center portion and an outer portion is selectively interconnected with the left and right side frame portions. A folding mechanism (E) enables the left and right side frame portions to be folded together for easier transportation and storage.

  • Patent number: 4555121
Abstract: A stroller base (A) detachably receives a seat structure (B) therein. The base includes forward wheel assemblies (12), rearward wheel assemblies (14) for rollably supporting the base, and wheel lock structures (60) for selectively locking the rear wheels against rotation. An upper base frame portion (20) is collapsable to a folded position (FIG. 3) and raiseable to a seat structure receiving position (FIG. 2). The upper base frame portion includes a channel guide (30) having a transverse slot (38) therein. The detachable seat structure includes a seat frame (80) with a plurality of patient supporting pads (90, 92, 94, 96) adjustably mounted thereon. Handles (84) selectively enable an attendant to lift a rearward portion of the detachable seat structure. A transverse seat frame member (88) is selectively received in the channel guide slot as the seat structure is positioned thereon and selectively lifted out of the channel guide slot as the seat is lifted therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4500102
Abstract: The sports wheelchair includes a one-piece, welded tubular frame assembly (A). A pair of rear wheels (30) are horizontally and adjustably positionable in a rear wheel mounting plate (34). The mounting plate has a plurality of slots (36, 38, 40) and a plurality of alternating ridges (44) and valleys (46) which mesh with like ridges (50) and valleys (52) on an axle receiving assembly (42). A pair of front wheels (80) are mounted with a front wheel mounting assembly (82) to be selectively positioned in any one of three vertical positions (FIGS. 6, 8, and 9). The front wheels are further mountable on the inside or the outside of a lower horizontal frame portion (10) and in any one of a plurality of positions fore and aft along the horizontal frame portion. The user is supported by a fabric seat (170) which is laced to upper horizontal frame portions (12) and to a back structure (150).
