    Abstract: After a hub supporting member is mounted on an end portion of a spindle, correction work is applied to a ring-shaped supporting surface which is an end face of the hub supporting member, whereby perpendicularity of the supporting surface relative to a rotational center axis of the spindle is improved. Thereafter, while the hub main body is made to rotate together with the spindle in such a state that the mounting surface abuts with the supporting surface, grinding finishing work is applied to a cylindrical surface portion (a portion on which inner rings are fitted) of the hub main body. As a result, the perpendicularity of the mounting surface relative to the geometric center axis of the cylindrical surface portion is improved.

    Abstract: A detection unit of a matching apparatus 32 is connected to a control unit 6 of a computer so that a detection signal indicating measured values of diameters of outer and inner ring raceways can be sent thereinto. An outer ring secondary grinding apparatus 24, an cuter ring super finish machining apparatus 25a, an inner ring secondary grinding apparatus 26 and an inner ring super finish machining apparatus 28a are connected to the control unit 6 so that control signals can be received. The control unit 6 imparts shift amounts to diameter machining target values which are set, respectively, in the grinding apparatus 24, 26 and the super finish machining apparatus 25a, 28a for machining a raceway surface of at least one bearing ring of outer and inner rings, based on measured values of diameters of the outer and inner ring raceways which were measured by the detection unit.

    Abstract: A construction is adopted in which an annular spacer 27 is held between first and second inner races 2a, 2b. An internal clearance in a double-row bearing unit is measured in a middle step of assembling work of a wheel supporting bearing assembly, and in the event that a resultant measured value does not become a proper value, an axial dimension of the spacer 27 is adjusted, so that the internal clearance becomes the proper value. Thereafter, the assembling work is made to continue until the assembling work is completed. A problem which is to be solved by the invention is solved in the way described above.
