Abstract: A garment fastening system has a male rivet and a female rivet. The male rivet is has a wide head and an elongated shaft with a widened mating ledge. The male rivet further has a through-hole extending at least partially through the head and/or shaft. A gemstone is received in the through-hole and is permanently coupled to the male rivet. The female rivet has a smooth domed outer side and an inner side with inwardly-facing tab portions defining a central opening. The male and female rivets are connected to a garment having an opening. The opening is sized and shaped to snugly receive the shaft of the male rivet from the garment outside. The widened mating ledge of the male rivet engages the tab portions of the female rivet to permanently lock the male rivet (and gemstone) to the female rivet and the garment.
