    Abstract: A sliding door drive assembly is provided for a vehicle. The assembly includes at least one grooveless drum. The drum has a cable wrap surface and is rotatable to wind cable thereon and unwind cable therefrom. A guide is positioned to be aligned generally with a first axial edge of the cable wrap surface. As cable is wrapped on the drum, the angle of the cable (due to the position of the guide) biases the cable towards the first axial edge, so that successive wraps of cable are snuggly positioned adjacent prior wraps. In another aspect, a cable drum includes a ramp at a second axial edge of the cable wrap surface, which guides the cable radially outwardly to start a second layer of wraps of cable on the first layer of wraps. In another aspect, an absolute position sensor is provided for a powered sliding door.

    Abstract: In another particular embodiment, a parking brake assembly is provided and includes a parking brake lever, a first locking member that is connectable to the parking brake cable, a second locking member and a spring. The parking brake lever is operatively connected to the second locking member for movement between a locking position wherein the second locking member engages the first locking member and locks the first locking member for movement with the parking brake lever in a first direction, and an unlocking position wherein the second locking member unlocks the first locking member from the parking brake lever during movement of the parking brake lever in the first direction. The spring is positioned to apply a tensioning force to the parking brake cable and is positioned to bias the second locking member towards the locking position.

    Abstract: A control pedal assembly includes an eccentric curve as an actuator surface at one end of a pedal arm and a control member includes a first lobe with a roller that rides on the actuator surface and a second lobe that receives a connector rod to a control device to be controlled by the pedal. The eccentric curve changes the stroke ration between the pedal stroke and the connector rod stroke as the pedal is depressed. Designers can simply and efficiently vary the stroke ratio as desired by selecting an appropriate curve for the actuator surface.

The handle has an actuator. A cam is pivotally mounted on the handle about a second axis offset from the first axis. The cam has a cam surface which varies radially from the second axis. The cam is biased to engage the stop. A clutch spring frictionally engages the cam and is operably connected to the actuator. Movement of the actuator in response to manual manipulation responsively moves the clutch spring to decrease the frictional engagement, thereby enabling the cam to engage with the stop.

The pivot link has a first guide slot and a first pin. A pedal is pivotally secured to the pivot link and includes an arm. The arm has a second guide slot and a second pin. The second guide slot works in conjunction with the first pin whereas the first guide slot works in conjunction with the second guide pin. Together, these pairings define the relative movement between the pivot link and the pedal arm. A drive assembly extends between said first pin and said second pin. The drive assembly slides the pedal arm relative to the pivot link to extend and retract the pedal with respect to the operator.

    Abstract: A vehicle window regulator is provided for lifting a window and lowering the window for retraction into a window well in a vehicle door. In the best embodiment the window is supported for lifting and lowering by first, second and third flexible cables, each of which is attached at one end to a take-up mechanism mounted on the window. The first and second cables at the end opposite the take-up mechanism are mounted to an upper portion of the body of the vehicle door, and the third cable at the end opposite the take-up mechanism is mounted to a lower portion of the body of the vehicle door. For lifting the window, the take-up mechanism shortens the first and second cables and simultaneously lengthens the third cable. For lowering the window, the operation is reversed.
