  • Publication number: 20150039749
Abstract: Various exemplary embodiments relate to a method of detecting anomalies in network traffic. The method includes: receiving a plurality of accounting reports from an application assurance device, the accounting reports indicating a metric of network performance; aggregating the metric from a plurality of accounting reports to determine a plurality of aggregated metrics corresponding to a plurality of intervals; storing the aggregated metrics in a database in association with the corresponding plurality of intervals; determining a rolling baseline for a current time period based on metrics of intervals corresponding to a primary partition and a sub-partition; comparing a metric for a current time period to the rolling baseline; and determining that an anomaly is occurring if the metric for the current time period differs from the rolling baseline by more than a pre-defined threshold.

  • Patent number: 7885398
Abstract: This invention provides the ability to load balance calls in a communications network using a certain criterion, such as a user-specified call priority, or the call service category. The method is applied when selecting a route for a new call or for re-balancing the calls across a network. When the user-specified call priority is used, the aggregated number of calls with the same priority or service category is calculated for all possible routes the new call may use. The aggregated number of calls is then divided by the number of hops in the respective routes; the route with the smallest ratio is selected for the new call. Re-balancing is performed by re-routing the calls in such a way as to obtain a similar number of calls of the same priority, or service category along all possible routes.

  • Patent number: 7668079
Abstract: A method and system for implementing Multiple Endpoint Paths (MEP) for Point to Multipoint (P2MP) calls over Soft Permanent Virtual Connections (SPVC) are provided. When a condition is detected that requires a particular endpoint to be switched to an alternate endpoint, all calls of the P2MP group that used the particular endpoint are torn down in sequence, in accordance with SPVC procedures. Once all of the calls are torn down, any calls that are enabled for MEP are re-established using the alternate endpoint to replace the particular endpoint.

  • Publication number: 20070091826
Abstract: A method and system for determining the connections of a communication path are provided. Starting from a one connection point, the identity of the connection point that precedes the one connection point in the direction in which the path was established is requested from the network element on which the one connection point is located. This may be repeated until a root endpoint is reached. Some embodiments are implemented for P2MP SPVC (Soft Permanent Virtual Connection) communications.

  • Publication number: 20050267961
Abstract: Methods and systems of managing communication networks are provided. Network management information received for an electronic device of a protection group, which includes a working electronic device and a protection electronic device in the communication network, is applied to both the working electronic device and the protection electronic device. Indications of the network management information, or portions of the network management information, may be displayed only for an active one of the working electronic device and the protection electronic device. In the event of an activity switch, such indications are displayed only for a newly active one of the working electronic device and the protection electronic device. In another embodiment, received network management information is applied to an active one of the working electronic device and the protection electronic device.

  • Patent number: 6498779
Abstract: A multiple endpoint path for providing endpoint redundancy is described. Selected active end nodes in a digital communications network are configured by a network management system to have compatible alternate endpoint paths. When one of the selected active endpoint paths fails, the network management system automatically switches the endpath from the previously active endpoint to the alternate end point path.
