  • Patent number: 7987763
Abstract: A firing pin system for a firearm, including a breech block, a firing pin slidably disposed in the breech block and a single firing pin coil spring adapted to both urge the firing pin toward a cartridge in a barrel of the firearm when the firearm is fired and, subsequent to firing, to urge the firing pin back away from the cartridge such that the firing pin does not protrude through a breach face of a breach block of the firearm subsequent to firing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 13, 2008
Date of Patent: August 2, 2011
    Assignee: Kimber IP, LLC

  • Patent number: 6886285
Abstract: A three-position safety for a firearm is provided that includes a lever that is rotatable from a first position wherein the bolt and the firing pin are unlocked, to a second position wherein the bolt is unlocked and the firing pin is locked, to a third position wherein the bolt and the firing pin are locked. A detent member has a detent surface to mate with detent apertures on the end of the bolt. When the safety lever is in a first position or a second position, a gap exists between the shaft of the plunger and the detent member allowing for rotational movement of the bolt relative to a cocking piece housing. When the safety lever is in a third position, the shaft of the plunger contacts the detent member such that no rotational movement of the bolt is provided.

  • Patent number: 5398593
Abstract: A bayonet-connector-like breech lock has a breech housing and a breech block with at least two radially projecting locking components. The enlarged region needed to rotate the locking components takes the form of an annular space wherein a locking sleeve is fitted to rotate between an open and a locked end position. The locking sleeve has a widened section for each locking component aligned with a widened part of the breech block bore in the open end position. The annular space is completely filled by the locking sleeve and the pushed-in breech block.

  • Patent number: 5390419
Abstract: Described is a mount for a telescopic sight. The mount has two pairs of spaced engaging elements which can be locked to each other. A spring-biased bolt mounted in a carrier element is displaced by means of an elbow or toggle lever and braces one pair of the spaced engaging elements against the other pair.

  • Patent number: 5345854
Abstract: A device for sealing the cartridge chamber of a small arms weapon that fires a caseless cartridge consisting of a propellant charge and a bullet that is connected to the propellant charge. The device includes a pot-shaped seal having a base and a side. The seal is disposed on the weapon's butt front edge so that at least a portion of the side's outer surface presses on an adjacent inner surface of the cartridge chamber when the butt is closed. The outer surface further sealingly engages the chamber adjacent inner surface in response to the gas pressure from the propellant charge when the cartridge is fired. The side's outer surface is defined by a first generatrix that is parallel to the chamber axis and the adjacent chamber inner surface is defined by a second generatrix, where the first and second generatrices converge.
