Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for receiving patient test data from a point of care device for a medical test performed on a patient using the point of care device, performing device specific processing on the received patient test data by processing the received patient test data to identify a device type from the received patient test data, and reformatting the received patient test data according to a test type using the identified device type, and transmitting the reformatted patient test data to a remote server system over a network.

Abstract: A method at a server system for processing patient test data from at least one point of care device comprises receiving point of care test data for a patient, retrieve demographic data for the patient from a said electronic health record provider's computer, where the at least one electronic health record provider's computer stores electronic health records for patients, processing the point of care test data for the patient using the demographic data and reference data, where the reference data specifies at least one demographically dependent normal range for point of care test data, setting a flag in the point of care test data when the processing of the point of care test data determines that the point of care test data lies outside the normal range, and uploading the point of care test data to the electronic health record data for the patient at the electronic health provider's computer.

Abstract: A method at a server system for processing patient test data to provide a more automated method of inputting point of care test data into an electronic health record avoiding user intervention. Point of care test data can be automatically completed and uploaded into an electronic health record. If a point of care test order is required in an electronic health record, it can automatically be created or identified for the uploading of point of care test data to the electronic health record for association with the automatically created or identified order.
