  • Patent number: 4611895
Abstract: A multi-format camera is provided for taking pictures in several different sizes, such as 21/4.times.15/8 ins. and 21/4.times.23/4 ins., on separate rolls of similar length film. A plurality of roll film holders for the different picture sizes have respective frames for carrying the similar length rolls and respective metering assemblies for advancing the film over the frames in different length increments corresponding to the different picture sizes. Each of the metering assemblies has at least one gear member situated at the same location on the film holders. The camera includes a single drive gear positioned for engagement with the gear member of the metering assembly on a film holder received in the camera, and manual or automatic means for rotating the drive gear between exposures to advance roll film in the particular length increments determined by such metering assembly.

  • Patent number: 4597654
Abstract: A plurality of roll film holders are individually coded to indicate respective negative sizes, such as 21/4.times.15/8 ins. and 21/4.times.23/4 ins., on separate rolls of similar type film. A multi-format camera for taking pictures in the different sizes is adapted to receive the film holders. The camera includes a variable size exposure area and code responsive means for determining the effective size of the exposure area in accordance with the negative size coded on a film holder received in the camera.

A plurality of roll film holders for the different picture sizes have respective coded means representative of the different picture sizes and respective metering assemblies for metering the roll film over the film holders in different length increments corresponding to the different picture sizes. Each of the metering assemblies has at least one gear member situated at the same location on the film holders. The camera includes code responsive means for determining the effective size of a variable size exposure area in accordance with the picture size coded on a film holder received in the camera.

  • Patent number: 4557578
Abstract: An autofocus camera has an optical viewfinder for composing a scene to be photographed, and an autofocus frame in the viewfinder for framing the focus (main) subject in the scene. Electrically activated means, such as a plurality of light emitting diodes (LED's), are provided for highlighting the autofocus frame, especially in a dim or moderate light situation, to prominently call attention to whether or not the focus subject is within the autofocus frame. Manually operated means, including a shutter release, activate the highlighting means before the scene can be photographed. In a preferred embodiment, the autofocus frame includes a plurality of indicator marks disposed in spaced relation about the center of the viewfinder. The LED's are arranged in the viewfinder to be seen at the respective spaces between the indicator marks. When the shutter release is partially depressed, the LED's combine with the indicator marks to define the autofocus frame, thereby highlighting such frame.

  • Patent number: 4332453
Abstract: A photographic camera is adapted to receive a film container which supports a filmstrip having a normally curled leader extending from the film container. As the film container is loaded in the camera, means on the camera deflects successive longitudinal edge portions of the curled leader into a substantially straight line, incrementally uncurling the film leader, and guides the uncurled leader, straightened edge portions first, into a film passageway in the camera.

  • Patent number: 4324476
Abstract: In a bottom-loaded camera, a bottom door is manually opened to allow insertion of a film container into the camera and a back door is automatically opened, in conjunction with the opening of the bottom door, to move a pressure plate on the back door to provide space for locating film from the container in the camera. Closing the bottom door closes the back door.

  • Patent number: 4303325
Abstract: A roll film and a photographic camera cooperate to facilitate automatic attachment of the film to a rotatable film take-up spool. The roll film has a leader portion provided with a novel connecting aperture that includes a flexible tongue element which extends forwardly into the aperture. The camera includes a rotatable film take-up spool which is provided with a capturing member having a head surface, a leading edge surface and a trailing edge surface provided with a recess. The leading edge surface of the film capturing means engages the film aperture upon rotation of the take-up spool and the head surface flexes the tongue element sufficiently to allow the head surface to pass through the plane of the film. Further rotation of the take-up spool allows the tongue element to snap back into the trailing edge recess of the capturing member to secure the film to the take-up spool.
