Abstract: A method and apparatus for dynamically controlling a image and video capture device using buttons, virtual buttons, and/or gestures. The system permits the user to control an image capture device by determining through a user command whether to save a captured video as an image or as a video file. For example, holding the capture button beyond a threshold time indicates the capture should be saved as a video, while releasing the capture button before the threshold time indicates the capture should be saved as an image.

Abstract: A method (1300) and apparatus (100) for automatically grouping a set of images together and selecting a text color for overlay on the set of images for presentation on a media device. The system identifies a set of images to be grouped together and identifies the most prominent color in the group of images, finds the closest match to that color in a predetermined number of colors, and then uses the closest match color to color the text that is overlaid on the group of images.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for dynamically fragmenting a video into ideal segments to ease content sharing. For example, a system is taught in which a video is segmented in 8 second segments. The resulting video is then saved as multiple 8 second videos. The user may then select the segments of interest and either share them individually, or combine them into a file video of sharing. Segment boundaries may be determined based on the attributes of the content in addition to the 8 second segmentation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for dynamically maintaining a horizontal framing of a video. The system permits the user to freely rotate the device while filming, while visualizing the 5 final output in an overly on the device viewfinder or screen during shooting. The resulting recording is subsequently corrected to maintain a single orientation with a stable horizon. The system and method is operative display an overly over a captured representation of the captured video wherein the overlay indicates a modified image with respect to said orientation.
