Patent number: 10342175Abstract: A vegetation cutting device comprises: a rotating cutting head and having a cutting line, the cutting line arranged to define a swath for cutting vegetation. A cutting line feeding mechanism comprises a counterweight for balancing a free end of the cutting line protruding from the cutting head, the counterweight being configured to actuate the cutting line feeding mechanism and feed more cutting line when the length of free end the cutting line is shorter than or equal to a feed length. A guide wheel is mounted on the vegetation cutting device and has an outer surface for engaging the ground. The guide wheel is moveable between a retracted position and an extended position wherein when the guide wheel is in the retracted position, the feed length is substantially equal to a distance between the outer surface of the guide wheel engaging the ground and the cutting head.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2014Date of Patent: July 9, 2019Assignee: Black & Decker, Inc.Inventor: Neil Walmsley

Publication number: 20170065142Abstract: There is a boiler comprising a body; a water cooling circuit having a water inlet and a steam outlet and the water cooling circuit comprises a first coiled portion. The boiler also has a heating element having a first terminal and a second terminal and the heating element comprises a second coiled portion. One of the heating element and the water cooling circuit are nested inside the other of the heating element and the water cooling circuit. The first coiled portion of the heating element and the second coiled portion of the water cooling circuit are positioned around one of the first terminal, the second terminal, the water inlet and the steam outlet. Finally at least the first coiled portion of the heating element and the second coiled portion of the water cooling circuit are embedded in the body.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2016Publication date: March 9, 2017Inventors: Neil WALMSLEY, Kevin STONES

Patent number: 7823293Abstract: The present invention provides a plunge-cut action circular saw having a double pivot hinge mechanism. Problems associated with this hinge mechanism, in particular axial end flow are reduced by urging a component of the hinge against a fixed component of the saw, such as a base plate component or the like. The urging force is applied by a resilient member, such as a spring washer.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2007Date of Patent: November 2, 2010Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventors: Neil Walmsley, Mike Wilson

Publication number: 20070157781Abstract: A circular is provided which can operate in two modes. In a first mode, the circular saw operates in a conventional manner; in a second mode the circular saw can turned through 90° to operate in an undercutting mode, for undercutting a wall mounted door, for instance. To achieve this, the blade shroud comprises an outer surface facing away from the saw's motor housing which is flat for engagement with a floor surface or a guide rail. Advantageously, the outer surface might comprise a groove or channel arranged to cooperate with a guide rail rib.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2006Publication date: July 12, 2007Inventors: Mike Wilson, Neil Walmsley, Sion Netzler

Publication number: 20060064882Abstract: A jigsaw comprises a body housing a motor and a drive mechanism to convert the rotary output of the motor into reciprocal motion of the drive the blade. The body 1 is mounted on a shoe which has two forward projecting arms. A guard rail is mounted on the shoe at the front end of the arms and comprises a horizontal bar supported by upright portions which respectively engage the arms. The guard rail is formed from a single metal bar.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2004Publication date: March 30, 2006Inventors: Mike Wilson, Neil Walmsley
