  • Publication number: 20230056989
Abstract: A bone plate includes body having a bone-facing surface that faces a first side of the long bone when the bone plate is in use. The long bone includes the first side, a second side, a third side, and a fourth side. The bone plate also includes a low-profile fixation assembly that can secure one end to the long bone. The low-profile fixation assembly fixates the one end to the long bone by approaching the one end from one of the second side, the third side, and the fourth side of the long bone.

  • Publication number: 20230055444
Abstract: A combined inserter for insertion of an intramedullary nail and a bone plate together. The combined inserter includes a body that includes a longitudinal axis, a distal end, and a proximal end. The combined inserter includes an intramedullary nail coupler coupled to the body and configured to couple to an intramedullary nail; and a bone plate coupler coupled to the body and configured to couple to a bone plate.

  • Publication number: 20230055472
Abstract: An intramedullary nail includes a shaft between a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end includes a first bend that extends from an anterior side of the intramedullary nail toward a posterior side and a second bend that extends from the posterior side toward the anterior side of the intramedullary nail. The two bends transfer an insertion force on a distal end of the intramedullary nail to, and along a longitudinal axis of the shaft of the intramedullary nail.

  • Publication number: 20230058351
Abstract: A femur fixation system includes an intramedullary nail that includes a first bending stiffness and a bone plate that includes a second bending stiffness and a second torsional stiffness. In the femur fixation system either at least one of the second torsional stiffness compensates for the first torsional stiffness and the first torsional stiffness is insufficient to enable the intramedullary nail to stabilize the bone fracture independently of the bone plate or the first bending stiffness compensates for the second bending stiffness and the second bending stiffness is insufficient to enable the bone plate to stabilize the bone fracture independently of the intramedullary nail.

  • Patent number: 9993362
Abstract: An adjustable knee brace for fitting a variety of leg sizes and adjustable to limit flexion or extension motion of a knee. The knee brace includes an adjustable length provided by a strut that telescopes within a receiver. A latch assembly mounted on the receiver selectively applies a frictional force to lock the strut member and the receiver against relative telescoping movement. An adjustable range of motion hinge is operatively associated with the telescoping strut. The hinge includes a hinge plate connected to the strut member and having a semi-circular peripheral edge defining a plurality of uniformly spaced apart keys. A range of motion stop is movably positionable relative to the semi-circular peripheral edge and includes a movable latch having teeth.

  • Patent number: 9700462
Abstract: A system for monitoring and controlling negative pressure wound therapy includes a microcontroller that controls means for maintaining reduced air pressure based on a pressure signal from a pressure sensor. The means for maintaining reduced air pressure may include a vacuum pump and valve. The system includes a mobile communication device having a microprocessor, touchscreen display, data storage device, GPS module, and wireless transceiver. The microprocessor generates control signals sent to the microcontroller to control the means for maintaining reduced air pressure to provide continuous or intermittent reduced air pressure. The microprocessor monitors the pressure signal and generates a closed-system alarm, leak-detected alarm or open-system alarm. The closed-system alarm indicates an air pressure leak rate below a closed-system threshold. The leak-detected alarm indicates an air pressure leak rate above a leak-detected threshold and below an open-system threshold.

  • Publication number: 20150250512
Abstract: A pedicle screw assembly includes an elongated bone screw having an enlarged ball end. First and second seats are disposed on opposite sides of the ball end so that the ball is received between and seated within the first and second seats. An annular wave spring resiliently biases the first seat toward the second seat so as to provide a pre-clamping frictional engagement between the seats and the ball end to hold the seats in a selected position relative to the ball end.

  • Publication number: 20150250521
Abstract: A driver apparatus for a pedicle screw assembly includes a release shaft rotatably mounted in a driver housing. A lower end of the driver housing is configured to be received in a slot in the upper end of a connector housing of a pedicle screw assembly. The release shaft has a thread on its lower end which can be made up or unmade from threaded engagement with the internal threads of the connector housing of the pedicle screw assembly so as to connect or disconnect the driver apparatus from the pedicle screw assembly.

  • Publication number: 20150245859
Abstract: A cervical plate apparatus includes a cervical plate body having a plurality of screw receiving passages defined therethrough. Received about each of the passages is a zero-step locking member which is operatively associated with the passage and configured to automatically lock the head of the screw in place within the passage when the screw is seated within the passage to attach the cervical plate to the cervical vertebrae. The locking member is selectively movable to an unlocked position. A retention structure is configured to retain the locking member in either the unlocked or locked position without further engagement of the locking member by a surgeon, so that when the locking member has been moved to the unlocked position, it is held in that position so that the surgeon can then remove the screw or screws without having to simultaneously hold the locking member in a retracted position.

  • Patent number: 8858603
Abstract: An implant system includes a pair of fasteners, a plate, and a horseshoe-shaped clip member. The clip member is located within a recess of the plate and is shaped so as to cooperate with the recess so that lobes of the clip block installed fasteners from backing out, yet, the lobes may be purposefully be deflected to enable removal of fasteners if desired.
