  • Patent number: 6868672
Abstract: A swing speed compensation device is provided for use with a flow sharing hydraulic system. The present invention is mounted within the metering spool of a flow sharing valve and includes a poppet that is attached to a spring retainer. The spring retainer encases a compression spring which pushes against a plug and has a drain hole that, depending upon the position of the spring retainer and poppet combination, can vent excess pressure within the present invention to a hydraulic pump tank. When a flow sharing hydraulic system starts or stops, there is a rush in the fluid flow that can cause a spike in the system pressure. The present invention absorbs this pressure spike, allowing for the fluid flow to gradually increase or decrease as the system starts or stops.

  • Patent number: 6606858
Abstract: The neutral override circuit of this invention includes a variable displacement pump controlled by a servo fluidly connected to a displacement control that is biased to a neutral position. A charge pump is connected to the pump and the displacement control. A solenoid-operated neutral override brake control valve is connected to the charge circuit upstream of the displacement control valve and is normally biased to an open position. However, the solenoid urges the valve to a closed position in a response to a signal indicating that the brake has been released. In the open position, the valve dumps charge flow to the pump case until the supply pressure to the displacement control is inadequate to overcome the centering bias of the displacement control. The characteristics of the brake control valve can be set so that some minimum charge pressure and lubricating flow are still provided to the rotating elements of the pump.

  • Patent number: 6408972
Abstract: An electronic traction control system for a vehicle having multiple hydraulically driven wheels includes a pump, a plurality of hydraulic drive motors each fluidly connected to the pump for driving one of the wheels, a corresponding plurality of speed sensors for generating a motor speed signal for each of the motors, and an electronic flow control valve. The electronic flow control valve includes a microcontroller electrically connected to the speed sensors for receiving and comparing the motor speed signals and a plurality of normally open anti-slip valves each electrically connected to the microcontroller for receiving a flow command signal therefrom based upon comparison of the motor speed signals. Each anti-slip valve fluidly connects to a drive motor between the drive motor and the pump. This electronic traction control system provides a method of controlling motor speed without changing the displacement of the motor.
