Abstract: A method of installing a pipe fitting that includes providing a pipe fitting including an extended run portion having a length that is greater than a length of the opposing run portion of the pipe fitting, and removing a portion of a line of pipe to provide an opening. The extended run portion of the pipe fitting is slid over the first end of the line of pipe within the opening formed in the line of pipe. The pipe fitting may then be moved to a second position by sliding the opposing run portion of the pipe fitting over the second end of the line of pipe, while the extended run portion of the pipe fitting is still present over the first end of the line of pipe. The pipe fitting is fused to the first and second end of the line of pipe.
