  • Patent number: 11962974
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for customizing an auditory prosthesis or other medical device. Customizing the auditory prosthesis includes obtaining and evaluating system data. The system data includes data from multiple sensors, including one or more sensors of an auditory prosthesis and one or more sensors of a recipient computing device. Based on the evaluation of the system data, a target behavior is determined, such as operating the auditory prosthesis in a particular sonic environment or with particular auditory prosthesis settings.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 11, 2022
Date of Patent: April 16, 2024
    Assignee: Cochlear Limited
Inventors: Jan Patrick Frieding, Carl Uvesten, Fredrik Breitholtz, Nicholas Feeney
  • Publication number: 20230364424
Abstract: Disclosed examples include monitoring consumption behavior of a recipient of a sensory prosthesis (e.g., a cochlear implant). The sensory prosthesis identifies specific sounds (e.g., the sounds of vomiting, snoring, opening a beer bottle, lighting a cigarette, or taking medication from a blister, among others) or visuals and record data regarding the frequency, timing, intensity, or other characteristics of the behavior. The recorded data can then be analyzed by the recipient or caregivers. The sensory prosthesis further adjusts its sensory output to enhance, degrade, or otherwise modify the recipient's perception of the consumption behavior.

  • Publication number: 20140324458
Abstract: A computing system provides an interface through which to receive self-characterizations of hearing performance and the like from candidates for hearing device implantation and from hearing device recipients. Provided with a candidate's pre-implantation self-characterization, the computing system searches through data to identify recipients whose entered pre-implantation self-characterizations match those of the candidate, and the computing system outputs as a predicted outcome of hearing device implantation a representation of post-implantation self-characterizations entered by the identified recipients.
