  • Publication number: 20230404691
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are described herein for autonomous operation of a surgical device within a predefined boundary. A discrete signal associated with clamping control (e.g., closure of a clamping jaw) may be received by the surgical device. The discrete signal may be triggered by a healthcare professional or autonomously activated. The surgical device, in response to the discrete signal and based on an algorithm, may generate a continuous signal to cause a continuous application of force or deployment of an operation. The surgical device, based at least on a measurement associated with one of tissue, inrush current, or the distance between the smart energy device and the smart grasper may determine a safety adjustment associated with the operation of the surgical device.

  • Patent number: 11837108
Abstract: This invention relates to a computer-implemented simulation system comprising a needle device having a retractable needle shaft comprising a resistance mechanism which can be activated to vary the resistance of the needle shaft. A processing module is configured to: receive ultrasound image data representative of a subject being scanned, receive position and orientation data representative of an ultrasound probe and a needle device, calculate a projected path for the needle device and generate a simulation needle from the projected path. When the simulation needle is determined to intersect with an identified tissue type, it modulates a signal and sends the modulated signal to the resistance mechanism, thereby to cause a change in the resistive force acting on the retractable needle shaft. The invention also relates to a computer-implemented method for simulating ultrasound guided needling using this system.

  • Publication number: 20230388348
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments provide systems and methods for analyzing and optimizing access policies. Access policies are analyzed by an access policy optimization system. In cases where large numbers of users have similar access privileges, the number of overall policies can be significantly reduced. An access control health metric is computed on an original set of access data as a measure of the current state of the access policies. It can be used as an indication that optimization of the access policies is warranted. The access data can include access policies and/or access groups. A policy subgroup mapping process is performed to identify subgroups of access policies. Subgroups with a number of entries exceeding a predetermined value are converted to access groups, the users that have those policies are added to the corresponding access groups, and the individual access policies are deleted. Duplicative and/or redundant policies are identified and removed.
