  • Publication number: 20230023955
Abstract: A dispensing closure (40) for a fluent substance-containing system, such as a container, includes a body (54) for receiving the fluent substance from the system, a locking member (56) assembled with the body (54), and a pivotable actuator (60) assembled with the locking member (56) and defining a dispensing flow passage (190) for discharging the fluent substance. The locking member (56) is rotatable relative to the body (54) from a locking position to an unlocking position to permit a user to pivot the actuator (60) from a closed position to a dispensing, open position. The body (54) has a pair of abutments (110) that extend through the locking member (56) in the locking position to prevent the actuator (60) from moving into the open position. In the unlocking position of the locking member (56), the actuator (60) is not prevented by the abutments (110) from moving into the open position.

  • Patent number: 11040805
Abstract: A closure (40) includes a closure body (54) defining a first latch portion (60) and a lid (56) connected to the body (54) movable between (i) a closed position, and (ii) an open position. The lid includes a flexible, recessed press portion (58) defining a second latch portion (64). The closure body (54) and the lid (56) have (i) a latched configuration with the lid (56) in the closed position wherein the first latch portion (60) and the second latch portion (64) are oriented in a confronting relationship to prevent the lid (56) from moving into its open position, and (ii) an unlatched configuration with the lid (56) in the closed position wherein the recessed press portion (58) is deflected inwardly to move the second latch portion (64) out of the confronting relationship with the first latch portion (60) to permit the lid (56) to move from its closed position.

  • Publication number: 20200140152
Abstract: A closure (40) for use with a container of a fluent substance includes a body (54) defining an orifice (84) to accommodate flow of a fluent substance from the container. The closure (40) has a lid (56) connected to the body (54) and movable between (i) a closed position occluding the orifice (84), and (ii) an open position spaced from the orifice (84). The closure (40) includes a retainer (60) having a locked position wherein the retainer (60) is engaged with both of the closure body (54) and the lid (56) to prevent the lid (56) from moving into the open position. The retainer 60) has an unlocked position rotated away from the locked position wherein the retainer (60) is disengaged from at least one of the closure body (54) and the lid (56) to permit the lid (56) to move into the open position.

  • Publication number: 20060191933
Abstract: A closure system is provided with a peripheral wall (e.g., as defined either by a top portion of a container for extending from, and defining, an opening or as defined by a separate closure body for extending from a container). The peripheral wall has a laterally inwardly extending sealing member. A lid is provided for being moved from an open position to a closed position on the peripheral wall. The lid has a flange with a peripheral sealable surface for being engaged by the sealing member of the peripheral wall to effect a seal.
