  • Patent number: 7168341
Abstract: A torque wrench for applying torque to a component (21) is described. The torque wrench has an engaging member (18) for engaging the component (21) to be rotated about an axis (22) and a ratchet member (25) connected to the engaging member (18). A drive lever (14) is connected to the engaging member (18) via the ratchet member (25) such that rotation of the drive lever (14) in one sense about axis (22) applies torque to the engaging member (18) and rotation of the drive lever (14) in the opposite sense applies torque below a predetermined value to the engaging member (18). A connecting member (12) is pivotably connected to the drive lever (14) remote from the engaging member (18) and is adapted to be engaged by a head (10) of a piston (6) having reciprocating linear movement to alternately rotate the drive lever (14) in opposite senses about axis (22). The connecting member (12) is slidable relative to the piston head (10) in a direction transverse to the direction of reciprocal linear movement.

  • Patent number: 6799930
Abstract: A quick release nut (1) includes a pair of body members or segments (2, 3) having internal surfaces (4) to be placed around and engage the shaft of a bolt. The segments (2, 3) are movable between an operative position and an inoperative position in which the segments (2, 3) are spaced further apart. A pin (8) and quick release cartridge (15) on segment (2) slide within corresponding channels (12, 18) in segment (3), and a pair of ball bearings (25, 26) are released from the groove (28) by pushing the end of pin (21) axially relative to the quick release cartridge (15).

  • Patent number: 4982626
Abstract: A hydraulic torque wrench comprises a body member housing a piston-cylinder assembly and a drive member pivotal by the piston of the assembly about an axis radially spaced from the line of action of the piston, the drive member carrying a shaft or socket connected to the drive member by a ratchet connection. A spherical bearing member is mounted to the end of the piston for guided linear reciprocal movement therewith, a neck portion of the drive member being slidably received in a bore in the bearing member whereby, as the drive member is pivoted by movement of the piston, the neck portion of the drive member undergoes guided sliding movement in the bore of the bearing member, the bearing member rotating relative to the piston such that the perpendicular distance between the line of action of the piston and the pivot axis remains constant.
