Abstract: A method and system for maintaining connectivity in a network. The network includes a plurality of computational devices. A first computational device includes a main processor and a co-processor. The first computational device receives the at least one data frame from a second computational device and forwards the at least one data frame to a third computational device by using the co-processor without intervention from the main processor by using network protocols corresponding to layer-2 and layer-1 of Open System Interconnection (OSI) reference model.

Abstract: A weather forecasting umbrella includes a display device in the umbrella's handle that provides a visual indication of the day's weather, such as the probability of precipitation. The display device may take the form of one or more lamps that emit a color, or flash at a varying rate, to indicate forecast weather conditions. The weather forecast that is displayed is preferably obtained using a wireless receiver built into the umbrella that receives data via a wireless paging or cell broadcast network. A display screen may be used to display forecasted information in more detail, including the likelihood of precipitation and/or the forecast high and low temperature for the day.

The display system employs a low resolution imaging device such as a transmissive or reflective spatial light modulator in combination with an image deflection system for dithering a sequence of low resolution images from the imaging device as a composite high resolution image directed to either a front or rear projection screen. The system may be used in laptop computers and other portable electronic devices such as PDAs and cellular telephones, and in eyeglass-mounted displays.
