Patent number: 11959993Abstract: A method and system for enabling the determination of a position of a receiver within a space includes transmitting a beacon signal from each of a plurality of beacon devices located at different locations within the space. The beacon signal transmitted from each beacon device has a unique information component and may have a unique frequency pattern of multiple frequencies. Each beacon signal can be distinguishable from the beacon signals transmitted from any other of the beacon devices based on the combination of its unique information component and its unique frequency pattern. The beacon signals are received at a receiver. At the receiver, for each beacon signal of a working subset, time-delay information of the received beacon signal is determined and multilateration is applied to determine the position of the receiver based on the location of each beacon device of the working subset.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2018Date of Patent: April 16, 2024Assignee: TAKEMETUIT INC.Inventors: Nick Barker, Vimalkumar Bhandari, Christopher Henrikson

Patent number: 10182386Abstract: A method of determining suitable communication paths between a first device and a second device, the first device being connected to a plurality of third devices to which the second device is also connected. The method comprises, at the first device: for each of the third devices, obtaining first information indicating a characteristic of communications between the first device and the second device via the third device, obtaining second information associated with first data to be transmitted from the first device to the second device, and determining, based upon the first and second information, whether any of the third devices should receive the first data for communication of the first data to the second device.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2013Date of Patent: January 15, 2019Assignee: Nomad Spectrum LimitedInventors: Nick Barker, Caleb Carroll

Patent number: 5998600Abstract: The APC tumor suppressor protein binds to .beta.-catenin, a protein recently shown to interact with Tcf/Lef transcription factors. Here, the gene encoding a Tcf family member that is expressed in colonic epithelium (hTcf-4) a was cloned and characterized. hTcf-4 transactivates transcription only when associated with .beta.-catenin. Nuclei of APC.sup.-/- colon carcinoma cells were found to contain a stable .beta.-catenin-hTCF-4 complex that was constitutively active, as measured by transcription of a Tcf reporter gene. Reintroduction of APC removed .beta.-catenin from hTcf4 and abrogated the transcriptional transactivation. Constitutive transcription of TCF target genes, caused by loss of APC function, may be a crucial event in the early transformation of colonic epithelium. It is also shown here that the products of mutant APC genes found in colorectal tumors are defective in regulating .beta.-catenin/Tcf-4 transcrpitional activation.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 1998Date of Patent: December 7, 1999Assignee: Utrecht UniversityInventors: Nick Barker, Hans Clevers, Vladimar Korinek
