  • Patent number: 5055563
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for continuous preparation of aromatic diazonium fluoride salts wherein diazotizable aromatic primary amines are continuously diazotized in a series of continuous-stirred tank reactors, wherein a portion of a premixed diazotization solution is cooled prior to being continuously fed into each of the reactors.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 13, 1990
Date of Patent: October 8, 1991
    Assignee: Mallinckrodt Specialty Chemicals Company
Inventors: Bruce J. Lamb, Nickolas J. Stepaniuk
  • Patent number: 4996035
Abstract: A process for the production of nitrosyl fluoride from nitrite and hydrogen fluoride. Nitrite solids and hydrogen fluoride are separately introduced and blended into nitrosyl fluoride so as to form a reaction mixture within which the nitrite and the hydrogen fluoride react to produce additional nitrosyl fluoride. The hydrogen fluoride is introduced into the reaction mixture spaced away from where the nitrite is introduced into the reaction mixture so that the hydrogen fluoride and the nitrite separately mix into the nitrosyl fluoride and are diluted therein before mixing with each other, thereby avoiding a violent reaction between the hydrogen fluoride and the nitrite.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 5, 1990
Date of Patent: February 26, 1991
    Assignee: Mallinckrodt, Inc.
Inventors: Nickolas J. Stepaniuk, Bruce J. Lamb
  • Patent number: 4918168
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for continuous preparation of aromatic diazonium fluoride salts wherein diazotizable aromatic primary amines are continuously diazotized in a reactor containing a plurality of sequential reaction zones, wherein a portion of the diazotization agent is continuously injected into each of the reaction zones.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 24, 1987
Date of Patent: April 17, 1990
    Assignee: Mallinckrodt Inc.
Inventors: Nickolas J. Stepaniuk, Bruce J. Lamb
