  • Patent number: 8255096
Abstract: Minimizing dynamic structural loads of an aircraft, introduced by an external excitation, which, includes generating a signal (x) indicative of the external excitation; deriving signals (y) of pre-controlling for actuating control elements of the aircraft from the excitation indicating signal (x) in accordance with a pre-controlling rule, so as to reduce the dynamic structural loads introduced to the aircraft; generating an error signal (e, e*) representing performance of said pre-controlling; optimizing the pre-controlling rule by the error signal (e, e*) and/or the excitation indicating signal (x) so as to minimize the dynamic structural loads.

Abstract: Minimizing dynamic structural loads of an aircraft (2), introduced by an external excitation (1), which, comprises generating a signal (x) indicative of the external excitation (1); deriving signals (y) of pre-controlling for actuating control elements of the aircraft (2) from said excitation indicating signal (x) in accordance with a pre-controlling rule, so as to reduce the dynamic structural loads introduced to the aircraft (2); generating an error signal (e, e*) representing performance of said pre-controlling; optimizing the pre-controlling rule by said error signal (e, e*) and/or said excitation indicating signal (x) so as to minimize the dynamic structural loads.

  • Patent number: 7499181
Abstract: A system for anticipated measurement of turbulence upstream of an aircraft, placed on-board the aircraft, includes a lidar, an image detector, a first processing component, and a second processing component. The lidar transmits an optical beam toward a front of the aircraft and receives a backscattered optical beam. The image detector detects variations in wind speed based on the backscattered optical beam. The first processing component uses a first internal correction algorithm to calculate values of components of the wind speed. The second processing component uses a second external correction algorithm to deliver possible command signals to actuators of at least one aircraft control surface based on the calculated values of the components of the wind speed from the first internal correction algorithm.

Abstract: A system for anticipated measurement of turbulence upstream of an aircraft, placed on-board the aircraft. A lidar transmits an optical beam toward the front of the aircraft and receives the backscattered optical beam. A direct detection device is associated with a controller. A first processing component uses a first internal correction algorithm, and a second processing component uses a second external correction algorithm delivering possible command signals to actuators of at least one aircraft control surface.
