    Abstract: A vectorable variable area nozzle is formed by a pair of parallel sidewalls, a pair of opposed clamshell elements arranged between the sidewalls and each able to rotate about an axis perpendicular to the sidewalls and a pair of flaps each pivotally lined to the downstream end of one of the clamshell elements. In use the thrust produced by the nozzle can be vectored by rotating the two clamshells about their respective axes.
