  • Patent number: 11973814
Abstract: A method for delivering an audio and/or video content using adaptive streaming to a terminal, the audio and/or video content being segmented into data segments available in various representations with respective audio and/or video qualities, the representations being time-aligned per segment, the segments being further divided into chunks, a controller selects, from a set of candidate caching platforms, the caching platform to be used to deliver the audio and/or video content to the terminal, as a function of a minimum burst transfer duration compared with the chunk duration as defined by an origin server providing the audio and/or video content. The controller redirects the terminal to the selected platform for further delivery of the audio and/or video content in the form bursts of chunks in response to requests for segments.

  • Publication number: 20240064502
Abstract: A mobile station is configured to operate a reception of audio and/or visual content from a remote server of audio and/or visual contents connected to the network and to operate restitution of the audio and/or visual content, the content transiting, between the reception and the restitution, via a data reception buffer of the mobile station. The method includes i) triggering a sending, to a roaming management device of the network, of a first piece of information according to which roaming of the mobile station is prohibited, when a first quantity of data available in the reception buffer, lower than a first predetermined threshold, is detected, then, ii) triggering a sending, to the roaming management device, of a second piece of information according to which roaming of the mobile station is authorized, when a second quantity of data available in the reception buffer, greater than a second predetermined threshold, is detected.

  • Patent number: 11812114
Abstract: For delivering an audio and/or video content using adaptive streaming from a cache server to a client device, the audio and/or video content being segmented into data segments available in various representations with respective audio and/or video qualities, the representations being time-aligned per segment, the segments being further divided into chunks, a method includes: obtaining a round-trip time value applicable between the cache server and the client device; computing a minimum bulk transfer size from the maximum average bitrate of the various representations of the audio and/or video content and from the obtained round-trip time value; computing a minimum bulk duration, with respect to the audio and/or video content, for the representation to be delivered to the client device; and delivering the audio and/or video content by burst transfers in the form of bulks of aggregated successive chunks for each segment in accordance with the computed minimum bulk duration.

  • Publication number: 20230254533
Abstract: According to embodiments, an enhancement layer segment may be requested in addition to a base layer segment for a same video. The enhancement layer may be requested, in a low priority, so that the base layer may be delivered in priority. If the enhancement layer can be obtained by a deadline, a subsequent base layer segment may be requested at a higher quality (e.g., at a bitrate lower than or equal to the sum of the bitrates of the previously requested base layer and enhancement layer segments). If, for example, at a playback time, the enhancement layer segment is not obtained, it may be determined that the quality cannot be increased and subsequent requests for enhancement layer segments may be cancelled (e.g., not transmitted). According to embodiments, probing may repeat (e.g., any of immediately, regularly, periodically, ...) to detect available bandwidth variations.

  • Patent number: 11438503
Abstract: A system and method for generating high resolution images using a plenoptic camera, is provided. In one embodiment, the comprises capturing a first set of images in a first unexcited state of operation by using a birefringent medium disposed between a main lens and an array of lenses having a plurality of apertures. Each pixel of the first set of images is then mapped to a first set of apertures. The first unexcited state is then caused to become a second excited state by applying a voltage across said birefringent medium. A second set of images are captured in the second excited state and a second set of pixels of the second image is mapped to a second set of apertures. A value is calculated for each first and second set of images and the value associated with said first set of images is subtracted from at least two times the value calculated from said second set of image.

  • Patent number: 10389701
Abstract: An apparatus and method for securely accessing a web service by a web application running in a browser on a user device is disclosed. A user device sends a request for accessing a web service by addressing a generic name. In response, the user device receives a global name that uniquely identifies a local device hosting a web service. The global name is further associated with a certificate. The user device receives the global name and verifies the certificate associated with the global name to securely access the web service.

  • Patent number: 10104412
Abstract: A method and a related electronic device for selecting, from a plurality of candidate video frame sets, a candidate video frame set to be inserted in a video frame slot of a given video content. It comprises obtaining the plurality of candidate video frame sets according to ranking values of a sorting parameter associated with each of the candidate video frame sets, thereby obtaining a list of candidate video frame sets and for each candidate video frame set of the list, determining a processing cost for inserting the candidate video frame set and applying the processing cost for obtaining an updated candidate video frame set ranking value according to the sorting parameter. The list is then sorted according to the updated ranking values of the sorting parameter and a selection of a candidate video frame set of the sorted list according to the updated ranking value.
