  • Publication number: 20240115259
Abstract: An apparatus includes a first jaw (16) and a second jaw (618, 718, 900) that cooperate to clamp and staple tissue (90). The second jaw includes a jaw body (620, 720, 902) and a distal tip (619, 719, 906) pivotable relative to the jaw body between a first discrete and a second discrete position. First and second openings (663, 784, 785, 932, 934) are both defined by one of the distal tip or a structure (621, 920) located proximal to the distal tip. A projection (637, 781, 918) is defined by the other of the distal tip or the structure. The projection is positionable within the first opening (663, 785, 932) to releasably retain the distal tip in the first discrete position, and within the second opening (663, 784, 934) to releasably retain the distal tip in the second discrete position.

  • Publication number: 20240099720
Abstract: An occlusive device can include a segment including an open end and a proximal end. The occlusive device can include a push wire that is positioned proximal of the proximal end. The occlusive device can include a detachment feature that is attached to the push wire via a detachment groove. The occlusive device can include a sleeve surrounding the push wire. In a non-deployed configuration, the sleeve can surround the detachment feature and prevent release of the proximal end of the segment from the push wire. In a deployed configuration, the proximal end can be flush with a proximal end of the spherical cavity.

  • Publication number: 20240032928
Abstract: An apparatus includes an interface, and an elongate body coupled to the interface. An end effector is coupled to a distal end the elongate body and includes a first end effector element defining a first receptacle structured to hold a first coupler element of a coupler that receives an axial end of a first vessel, and a second end effector element defining a second receptacle structured to hold a second coupler element of the coupler that receives an axial end of a second vessel. The end effector is configured to move between a first configuration in which the first and second end effector elements are separate, and a second configuration in which first end effector element is proximate to the second end effector element such that the first coupler element is coupled to the second coupler element so as to couple the first vessel to the second vessel.

  • Publication number: 20230363941
Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to systems and methods of retinal injection. In some aspects, a method includes inserting a distal end portion of a hollow conduit of a medical injector into an eye of a patient until the distal end portion reaches a reference location, the medical injector having a housing from which the hollow conduit distally extends and confirming disposal of the distal end portion of the hollow conduit in the reference location. After the confirming, the method further includes extending the distal end portion of the hollow conduit distally relative to the housing and from the reference location such that the distal end portion enters an injection region of the eye. With the distal end portion of the hollow conduit disposed in the injection region of the eye, medicament is conveyed into the injection region via the hollow conduit.

  • Patent number: 11793394
Abstract: A steerable endoscope system includes a continuum manipulator, a plurality of syringes, and a steerable tip. The continuum manipulator includes a plurality of spaced discs and a plurality of backbones each extending through all discs. A bending movement of the continuum manipulator changes a varying linear displacement of each backbone. Each backbone is further coupled to a different one of the syringes such that the linear displacement of each backbone pushes or pulls a piston of the corresponding syringe by a varying amount. The steerable tip includes a plurality of bellows each pneumatically coupled to a different syringe such that movement of the piston of a syringe causes the corresponding bellow to inflate or deflate. Because the distal end of each bellow is fixedly coupled to the same end effector, variations in the amount of inflation or deflation on each bellow causes a bending of the steerable tip.

  • Publication number: 20230309989
Abstract: An assembly includes an insertion device and a suture delivery device. The insertion device includes a longitudinal guide member extending from a proximal end to a distal tip. The tip includes an abutting structure movable between insertion and open positions. The structure is sized and shaped to contact tissue surrounding the tissue opening into which the insertion device has been inserted to maintain a desired position of the insertion device within the opening. The delivery device includes a body and a tube. The tube extends along a curved path configured so that, as the tube is rotated about the member, the tube penetrates tissue surrounding the opening into which the member has been inserted. A distal extension of the tube is configured so that, when the tube has been advanced distally to a distal-most position on the member, a distal end of the tube is proximal of the structure.

  • Publication number: 20230218348
Abstract: A surgical instrument assembly configured to display a representation of the surgical instrument relative to a trajectory (e.g., a desired trajectory for drilling into an implant) based image data from an image sensor (e.g., a camera). For example, the surgical instrument assembly may be configured to determine a desired trajectory (e.g., a central axis of a distal hole of an intramedullary nail) based on X-ray image data representing at least one fiducial marker (e.g., an array of ArUco markers) and representing an anatomical structure and/or an implant. The surgical instrument assembly may in real time display a representation of the orientation and/or position of the surgical instrument (e.g., the orientation and position of a drill bit of the surgical instrument) in relation to the desired trajectory based on image sensor data that is generated based on an orientation of the at least one fiducial marker detected by an image sensor.

  • Publication number: 20210153969
Abstract: A method for navigating a probe to a location within a body of a patient, the method comprising visualizing a three-dimensional image of a region of a body of a patient; receiving a selection of a target location within said three-dimensional image of a region of a patient's body; determining and visualizing a preferred pathway for the probe to follow from an external entry point on the patient's body to the target location; visualizing the preferred pathway for the probe simultaneously with an indication of the current actual position of the probe in real time such that the simultaneous visualizations enables a user to align the current actual position of the probe with the preferred pathway; and updating and visualizing an indication of the current actual position of the probe in real time as the probe is advanced to the target location.
