  • Patent number: 8126404
Abstract: To evaluate an energy level of a signal received through a radio interface between radiocommunication stations, successive measurement samples depending on the energy of the signal are obtained, and an average of said samples is calculated, to evaluate the energy level. • Publication number: 20110243282
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of estimating symbols carried by a digital signal that is received by a receiver over a communication channel (5), said symbols being multiplexed or orthogonal frequency sub-carriers. The inventive method comprises the following steps in relation to each symbol carried by the digital signal, consisting in: performing at least two transforms towards the frequency domain (8,9) on a portion of the received signal essentially corresponding to the symbol, said transforms being performed with a determined time lag (10) therebetween: estimating the parameters (r0, r1, . . . , rn, r?0, r?1, . . . , r?n) of the communication channel from pre-determined binary information contained in the digital signal; and estimating the symbol from a combination of the result of each of the transforms performed and the estimated communication channel parameters.

  • Patent number: 7616636
Abstract: Data blocks to be received each comprise a header and a data field including respectively first and second codes for error detection. The decoding of a signal segment received having first and second portions corresponding respectively to the header and to the data field of a block gave rise to a verification of the first code in the first portion. If the first code is correct, a check is made to verify whether the second portion of the decoded signal has a second correct code. A data block is considered to be detected either in the presence of first and second correct codes, or in the presence only of a first correct code when a data likelihood criterion, evaluated during the decoding of the second portion of the signal, is fulfilled.

  • Publication number: 20090104917
Abstract: A position-finding method in a radiocommunication system comprising at least one first and one second sub-system and means (34, 35, 36, 39) for finding the position of a mobile terminal (30), wherein the mobile system can communicate and carry out measurements relating to position-finding on each of the first and second sub-systems, and the position finding means for locating the mobile terminal are embodied in such a way that they can take into account certain measurements carried out by the mobile terminal. • Patent number: 7433386
Abstract: Method of allocating communication codes to channels set up in respect of mobile terminals in communication in a cell of a radiocommunication system, in which the cell is served by a fixed station having means of adjustment of send/receive parameters defining a respective antenna pattern in respect of each mobile terminal in the cell, in which the allocated communication codes form part of a set of codes some at least of which are mutually orthogonal. In response to channel setup or reconfiguration request in respect of a first mobile terminal in the cell, the allocation to the said channel of a code nonorthogonal to at least one code of the set already allocated to another channel set up in respect of a second mobile terminal in the cell is conditionally admitted, as a function of a comparison between the send/receive parameters determined in respect of the first and second terminals.

  • Patent number: 7372894
Abstract: In a spread spectrum digital radiocommunication receiver, a first estimate of a symbol transmitted by a sender is calculated by applying to a radio signal received a processing taking into account a number N of propagation paths from the sender, a parameter of reliability of the first estimate is evaluated, and when the reliability parameter evaluated does not satisfy a confidence criterion, a second estimate of the symbol is calculated by taking into account at least one (N+1)-th propagation path from the sender in the processing applied to the radio signal received.

  • Patent number: 7372920
Abstract: The method seeks a high-performance detection of a signal burst transmitted on the initiative of a sender on a radio channel listened to by a receiver system. The transmitted burst represents a predetermined digital sequence, serving for example to request access to a radio system or to ensure the synchronization of a radio interface. Channel parameters representing a statistical behavior of the radio channel are estimated and a detection magnitude is evaluated on the basis of the estimated channel parameters and of a correlation between a signal received at the receiver system and the predetermined digital sequence. The estimated channel parameters comprise moments of order greater than 2 of the gain on the radio channel.

  • Publication number: 20080107012
Abstract: A method for transmitting a signal carrying information elements over a plurality of frequency subcarriers simultaneously. The method comprises: identifying a set of at least one frequency subcarrier of the plurality particularly subjected to attenuation; and transmitting the signal simultaneously over said plurality of frequency subcarriers by assigning respective information elements to the frequency subcarriers of the plurality not belonging to said set and assigning to each frequency subcarrier of said set a respective coefficient set so that an envelope of the transmitted signal is less than an envelope of the signal that would be transmitted by assigning respective information elements to all the frequency subcarriers of the plurality.

  • Patent number: 7359729
Abstract: The radio network controller estimates respective attenuation ratios of radio signals received by a terminal from transmitters of an active set. It commands at least some of the transmitters of the active set to transmit to the terminal with respective powers such that the difference pi-pj between the respective transmission powers pi and pj of two transmitters i and j is substantially proportional to 1 L j - 1 L i , where Li and Lj designate the attenuation ratios estimated for the transmitters i and j, respectively.

  • Patent number: 7317933
Abstract: The method measures the time of arrival at a radiocommunication receiver of a received radio signal originating from a transmitting station. A received signal component is stored in a memory of the receiver. An estimation of the information bits carried by the signal component is obtained through demodulation of the signal component by the receiver. The estimation of the time of arrival of the signal is carried out on the basis of the bits thus estimated and the received signal component.

  • Patent number: 7257174
Abstract: A baseband digital signal block is processed at an output of a matched filter and at an input of a channel equalizer. This signal is fed to a whitening filter estimated for the block by taking into account interfering signals in the frequency band of the useful signal and in one or more adjacent bands. To this end, an autocorrelation vector, calculated form the block of received signal is projected onto different directions corresponding to predetermined correlation vectors relating to the useful signal, to signals which may be present in the adjacent bands and to the thermal noise. The coefficients of the whitening filter are then derived from the sum of the projected vectors, by taking into account the energy of the useful signal if the latter has not been cancelled prior to the computation of the autocorrelations.
