  • Patent number: 4827850
Abstract: A folding modesty panel on the edge of a table surface is maintained in either an extended, vertical, position or a folded, horizontal, position by a single spring or set of springs. The panel may be utilized as a wire manager by the provision of a flexible mesh trough connected between the bottom of the panel and the underside of the table top. An access cover on the front of the panel permits access to the contents of the trough and conceals its contents when closed.

  • Patent number: 4827851
Abstract: The invention is an improved leg folding mechanism for a folding table. The leg has a T-shaped top end and carries a pair of disc shaped followers on the ends of the T arms. These followers are arranged to travel in a pair of parallel guide channels when the leg is folded and erected. The leg itself carries an "axle" which protrudes therethrough on both sides. Each of a pair of elongated compression members is connected at one end to one end of the axle and the other end of each compression member is pivotally connected to the table top. Each of a pair of tension links is also pivotally connected to the table top at one end and to the axle by a slot in the other end. A latch secures the top end of the leg to the table top when erected. The dimensions of the compression members and tension links are so selected that, when the table is erected, the tension links are under tension and this tension force is applied directly to the compression members, thereby keeping them under compression.

  • Patent number: 4624083
Abstract: A sound and visual partition screen panel utilizes a treated corrugated cardboard septum to which is secured a frame. Acoustic insulation pads are provided on each side of the septum within the frame. The frame is designed with rounded vertical and top edges which are adapted to receive a fabric covering in the form of a sewn sock or sleeve which includes seams with inwardly formed welts adapted to be threaded into recesses in the verticals which open to the edges of the panels through a very narrow slot. The top and bottom of each vertical is provided with a removable pin, the one on the bottom also adjustably supporting the panel, which pins in turn secure plastic blocks having semi-circular gear segments, the gear teeth projecting just beyond the rounded surface of the verticals. The gear teeth extend for only slightly less than one half the height of the semi-circular face of the block. The blocks may be inverted by removing and replacing the pins.

  • Patent number: 4595970
Abstract: A lamp for use with a recline chair, or like item of furniture includes a pedestal, a horizontally extending light fixture and a three-link parallelogram linkage supporting said fixture from said pedestal. The pedestal and fixture include parallel surfaces extending approximately 45.degree. to the horizontal in which the links are mounted with ball and socket joints. Two of the links extend beyond the ball joints and are interconnected by short transverse links. In the pedestal the connecting transverse link is connected to one or two tension coil springs balancing the light fixture in any position. The pedestal may support a cantilever table to serve as a side table for the furniture used with the lamp. The fixture may include a semi-cylindrical reflector with pivotal shades at each edge.

  • Patent number: 4429917
Abstract: A chair of the tilting type which includes a base, a seat and back, with the base pivotally supporting the seat with two opposite non-parallel links of the four bar non-parallel linkage, with one of the opposite links extending to support the back and also being formed to provide an arm rest. The four bar linkage is duplicated on each side of the chair by forming the two opposite non-parallel links or cranks from the upturned ends of the tubes which pass through the base in parallel but vertically offset fashion, the base thus forming the fixed bar of the linkage with its opposite bar or coupler being formed by the seat. A spring within the base is operative on one of the tubes to urge the chair to an upright position. The tubes are pivotally connected to the seat and one of the tubes extends and is fixedly connected to the back in a manner to emphasize the isolated and separate appearance of the seat and back.
