  • Patent number: 5009150
Abstract: In an apparatus for the cooling of softly packaged food-stuffs, such as pouches with foods, said pouches are immersed inside a tank (52) into a cooling liquid with a density that is lower than that of the pouches. A floor is arranged inside the tank above the tank bottom so as to support the pouches, which floor comprises a grid (14). At least one jet (15) is arranged between the tank floor and the grid, said jet being adapted to eject liquid in a generally upward direction, and said jet during the ejection being moved so as to vary the flow pattern inside the tank. The motion of the jet provides an exceptionally good cooling effect, which is believed to be attributable to a combination of advantageous circumstances, viz. that no pouch is constantly stationary and that the pouches do not cover the surfaces of other pouches. The motion of the jets can be provided by a mechanically relatively simple arrangement, in which the jets are mounted on arms (16), which arms are rotated around a vertical axis (17).

  • Patent number: 4702161
Abstract: An apparatus for blanching and cooling vegetable products comprises a perforated product conveyor belt having an upper belt run which extends and travels through a treatment tunnel defined in a casing of the apparatus. A layer of vegetable product is transported on the upper belt run through successive treatment zones defined in the treatment tunnel. The treatment zones are provided with arrangements of spray nozzles which are located to spray liquid onto the upper belt run and the layer of product thereon. The nozzle arrangement comprises upper nozzle units adapted to spray liquid on the top surface of the product layer, and may also include lower nozzle units adapted to spray liquid onto the underside of the perforated upper belt run. In a blanching zone, the product layer is sprayed with a blanching liquid which is recirculated and maintained at a desired blanching temperature. The blanching zone is followed by a cooling zone in which the product layer is cooled by spraying a cooling liquid thereon.

  • Patent number: 4232503
Abstract: A machine for automatically filling cans, especially flat cans with substantially rectangular contour, with goods of elongated configuration which, in a filling station, are manually laid into a horizontally continuous row of receptacles open at their adjacent ends and mounted on the links of an endless conveyor chain. The machine includes a cutting device for dividing the piece of goods between the adjacent ends of each receptacle, for supplying the cans with their facing downward in continuous row to a location where the conveyor chain initiates a downward movement around a sprocketwheel. As the conveyor chain rotates about the sprocketwheel, the distance between the individual receptacles is increased enabling a can supplied by the guide device to be placed over and surrounding each receptacle, the contents of which falls down in the can at the bottom of the sprocketwheel.
