  • Patent number: 5207803
Abstract: A method for dyeing fibrous material is provided. The method includes contacting a fibrous material with a carrier and a dye soluble or dispersed with the carrier in a dyebath. The carrier comprises an N-substituted aromatic carbonamide or an N,N-disubstituted aromatic carbonamide or mixture thereof. The carrier system of the present can be advantageously utilized for improving dye and flame resistant properties of difficult to dye fibers such as aromatic polyamide fibers, polybenzimidazole fibers and aromatic polyimide fibers.

  • Patent number: 5092904
Abstract: A method for dyeing fibrous material is provided. The method includes contacting a fibrous material with a mixture of a carrier and a dye soluble or dispersed in the carrier. The improvement comprises the use, as the carrier, of a mixture comprising N-cyclohexyl-2-pyrrolidone and an alkyl or aryl benzoate. The carrier system of the present can be utilized advantageously to dye difficult to dye fibrous material such as aromatic polyamides including Kevlar.RTM. fibers and blends thereof with other fibers.

  • Patent number: 4756714
Abstract: Textile yarns are treated with a sizing composition which, when dried and cured, remains durably bound to the yarn throughout wet finishing operations and subsequent use. The sizing composition comprises an aqueous self-crosslinking emulsion copolymer derived from at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer and a latent-crosslinking monomer. The sizing composition may also include a water soluble or dispersible film forming polymer and a reactive resin. The durable size coating beneficially contributes to both the physical and the aesthetic properties of the yarn and fabrics formed therefrom.
