  • Patent number: 6979422
Abstract: Flashback protection is provided proximate the head of a cutting torch by a fitting, which can be in the form of an adapter or a cutting tip for mounting to the head. The fitting includes a check valve and porous structure for restricting flashback.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 18, 2003
Date of Patent: December 27, 2005
    Assignee: The ESAB Group, Inc.
Inventors: Nigel Parkin, John Onorato, Paul Mercuri
  • Patent number: 6910881
Abstract: Flashback protection is provided in or proximate the head of a cutting torch by a fitting, which can be in the form of an adapter or a cutting tip for mounting to the head. The fitting includes a body and porous structure that is preferably carried by the body and is a distinct component from the body. The porous structure has a multiplicity of convolute passageways extending therethrough for restricting flashback.

  • Publication number: 20040132216
Abstract: A micro-reactor (10) is formed from a first glass block (11) having first and second grooves (14,17) formed in an upper surface (13) and a second glass block (12) having a lower surface (26) that closes the first groove (14) and parts of the second groove (17) to form corresponding channels. An aperture (31) extends through the second block (12) to a part of the upper surface (13) of the first block (11). This part (called the inner surface 32) has a number of parts (called the inner surface grooves) of the second groove (17) formed in it. The inner surface grooves can be closed by an end surface of a cylindrical insert (37) to form corresponding channel parts. A first chemical species can be bound to the end surface of the cylindrical insert (37) so that the first chemical species lies within the channel parts corresponding to the inner surface grooves. A second chemical species can now be passed through the channels of the micro-reactor for binding between the first and second chemical species.

  • Patent number: 6493597
Abstract: A print monitoring system is disclosed using combination of analog signal processing circuits and signal processors on the slave processing boards to avoid the need for analog-to-digital converters and dedicated frame buffers between the slave processor and the video capture device. Additionally, the division of labor between the slave processors and the master processor is configured such that the slave processors perform a larger portion of the data manipulation, data analysis for the captured images. The master processor can be simply used to collect the decoded data and/or data analysis results from the slave processors and to run the interface to the operator to communicate the data/results. Finally, a graphical user interface between the user and the master processor is used to facilitate the calibration of the system and specifically the images captured by each of the video cameras.
