  • Patent number: 11824640
Abstract: Example implementations relate to a method for reconfiguring a network based on network traffic comparison. The first network supports multicast Domain Name Service (mDNS) query with multicast query-response messages. The method includes determining a client type for each client device and a first average packet count for each client type in a first network. The method includes receiving a second average packet count for each corresponding client type from a second network. The second network supports mDNS query with unicast query-response messages. A difference between the first average packet counts and the second average packet counts for corresponding client types is computed. The first network is reconfigured to respond to mDNS query with unicast query-response messages when the difference computed for at least one client type in the first network and each corresponding client type in the second network is above a predefined threshold.

  • Patent number: 11689469
Abstract: In computer networks, unicast and multicast are information transmission methods. Multicast is when one sender station or device transfers information to all of the other stations or devices in the computer network. Multicast packets sent from devices in a network can be sent directly to a server that will monitor and record the number of multicast packets being submitted from each device in the network. The server may perform actions to regulate the transmission of multicast packets if one or more devices is transmitting too many multicast packets in the network. Thus, the server will be able to monitor and regulate the performance, security, and traffic flow of data in the network, and prevent any deficiency in the network communication due to an excess amount of multicast packets being transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20230136345
Abstract: Examples of techniques for service discovery of wired host devices are described. In an example, a controller may receive a service advertisement message comprising information of a service hosted by a wired host device in a network. Based on a header information of the service advertisement message the controller determines that the service advertisement message is from a switch. The controller maps the wired host device to a set of Wireless Access Points (WAPs) connected to the switch. Further, the controller may send identification information of the wired host device to a client device connected to one of the set of WAPs, in response to receiving a query for the service from the client device.
