  • Patent number: 4970364
Abstract: A plasma spray torch comprises a spray nozzle which forms an electrode and which includes a nozzle duct, and a second electrode associated therewith, in a portion of a torch arm which is electrically insulated from the spray nozzle. The torch arm has flow passages for a working gas and for a cooling agent, the latter flowing in one of the flow ducts to the nozzle and being removed after producing its cooling effect from another flow duct. A powder feed conduit opens into the nozzle duct. The working gas flow duct is connected to a duct which passes through the second electrode while at least in the region of its mouth opening, the nozzle duct is inclined relative to the longitudinal axis of the torch arm or the flow duct therein. In a method of internally coating a tube by plasma spraying, the torch is introduced into the tube which is then rotated and moved axially relative to the torch during the spray operation.

  • Patent number: 4576526
Abstract: An arrangement for supplying powdered material to a spraying device in an installation for thermal spraying comprises at least one powder storage container and an injection device by which the powder is introduced into a stream of carrier gas. A buffer chamber is disposed upstream of the injection device and comprises means for controlling the level of the powder, at least one controllable feeding means being connected, by means of a control device, to the level-controlled buffer chamber. The present arrangement allows to obtain a well-defined rate of flow of powder which is constant and adjustable, from one or more powder storage containers.

  • Patent number: 4207032
Abstract: The invention relates to a gas-fired cigarette lighter comprising a gas reservoir, a gas distributor valve and means which make it possible to ignite the gas emerging from this distributor valve, comprising at least one reserve supply of gas and means for draining this reserve supply into the gas reservoir. This lighter is remarkable in that it is rechargeable and comprises a filling device enabling simultaneous filling of the reserve supply and of the gas reservoir, the filling device comprising two serially disposed valves, opening of the valve situated between the reserve supply of gas and the other valve being operated either by the opening of this other valve or by an operating element, this other valve then remaining closed.

  • Patent number: 4140892
Abstract: A plasma-arc spraying torch is disclosed which comprises a cathode unit and a separable anode unit which units are connected to each other approximately at a section of the torch in which the cathode of the torch is mounted on a cathode supporting member. The connection of the units and the mounting of their parts are all self-centering. Each unit has its own separate cooling circuit. Cooling of the anode nozzle is provided by a helical water duct within a nozzle holder member surrounding the anode nozzle. The nozzle holder and cathode supporting members are each at least laterally embedded in body parts of insulating material.
