  • Patent number: 8123971
Abstract: The invention relates to composites made of an elastic carrier medium comprising polynorbornene (PNR) and magnetisable particles which are polarized reversibly in a magnetic field. Thus the mechanical properties, such as e.g. storage modulus G? (describes the elastic behavior or the energy storage) and loss modulus G? (describes the viscous behavior or the energy dissipation), of such elastomer composites can be increased rapidly and reversibly within wide limits (up to approx. two orders of magnitude) as a function of an external magnetic field. Wide-ranging application possibilities are produced herefrom, e.g. for adaptive damping systems, in which the damping force can be adjusted via the strength of the magnetic field.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 10, 2007
Date of Patent: February 28, 2012
Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e.V.
Inventors: Holger Böse, Rene' Röder, Nikolaus Rennar

  • Publication number: 20070265374
Abstract: A composition is disclosed which contains at least one diene rubber or at least one copolymer of a diene rubber and/or mixtures and zinc hydroxide and/or basic zinc carbonate and/or zinc phosphate. The composition is suitable as a masterbatch and can be employed for the preparation of vulcanizable mixtures with a lower zinc load.

  • Patent number: 6852786
Abstract: A rubber compound is described containing as a reinforcing filler a layered silicate which is obtained by excessive leaching of a smectitic layered silicate with mineral acids. The rubber compound further contains at least one diene polymer or copolymer and a coupler containing groups reactive with the filler. There is also described a method for production of the rubber compound and molded articles produced from the rubber compound.

  • Patent number: 6057044
Abstract: A thermoplastic polymer/rubber composite body useful as fittings, couplings, sealing elements, rubber bearings and automotive housings comprises a molding of a thermoplastic polymer such as a polyacetal or polyester wherein a rubber copolymer with a crosslinking agent is molded thereon by injection molding, coinjection or coextrusion followed by the vulcanization of the rubber copolymer.

  • Patent number: 5859115
Abstract: A sulfur-vulcanizable rubber mixture for a tire tread includes at least one terpolymer with a conjugated diene, an aromatic vinyl compound, and a monoolefin monomer. At least one phenolic component selected from the group consisting of a phenolic resin and a precursor mixture, containing phenol and aldehyde, for a phenolic resin is also present. A reinforcing agent in the form of finely divided silica or a mixture of finely divided silica and carbon black is also added.
