    Abstract: A method for providing a user interface for multivariate searching is provided. The method comprises displaying, by a computing device, the user interface having an input portion and a search type selection portion which may have two or more search type objects. Each object corresponds to a different type of search to be performed, which may be represented by an icon indicating the type of search to be performed. The method further comprises: receiving, by the computing device, a first input string in the input portion and a first selection of one of the two or more search type objects; associating a first search type on the first input string based on the first selection of one of the search type objects; and displaying the first search type and the first input string on the user interface.
