In some implementations, a computer-implemented method includes detecting an image posted within a first message by a first user, and programmatically analyzing the image to determine a feature vector representative of the image. The method programmatically generates one or more suggested responses to the first message based on the feature vector, each suggested response being a conversational reply to the first message. Generating the suggested responses includes determining probabilities associated with word sequences for the feature vector using a model trained with previous responses to previous images, and selecting one or more of the word sequences based on the associated probabilities. The suggested responses are determined based on the selected word sequences. The method causes the suggested responses to be rendered in the messaging application as one or more suggestions to a second user.

The semiconductor device includes a stack of semiconductor die having contact pads which extend to an active edge of the die aligned on one side of the stack. The active edges of the die are affixed to the PCB and the contact pads at the active edge are electrically coupled to the PCB. This configuration provides an optimal, high density arrangement of semiconductor die in the device, where a large number of semiconductor die can be mounted and electrically coupled directly to the PCT, without a substrate, without staggering the semiconductor die, and without using wire bonds.

    Abstract: Described are nonlinear optical (NLO) crystals, including aluminum-borate NLO crystals, that have low concentrations of contaminants that adversely affect the NLO crystal's optical properties, such as compounds that contain transition-metal elements and/or lanthanides, other than yttrium, lanthanum, and lutetium. Some NLO crystals with low concentrations of these contaminants are capable of second harmonic generation at very short wavelengths. Also described are embodiments of a method for making these NLO crystals. Some embodiments involve growing a single NLO crystal, such as an aluminum-borate NLO crystal, from a mixture containing a solvent that is substantially free of harmful contaminants. The described NLO crystals can be used, for example, in laser devices.
