  • Publication number: 20090261708
Abstract: An LED and method for increasing the reliability of LEDs are provided. The LED contains a semiconductor die, a reflector, and a glass capping structure. The glass structure may be solid or formed from multiple layers of uniform or varying dimensions. The glass structure is coated with a phosphor that emits light of a different wavelength than the die. The phosphor is disposed between adjacent layers if the glass structure has multiple layers. The die is disposed in a cavity of the reflector. The cavity may be evacuated or filled with a transparent material.

  • Patent number: 7410371
Abstract: A computing device (110) has a body comprising a mechanised socket (170). The socket (170) is retractable within a volume (150) enclosed by the body of the computing device (110). Activation of a mechanism causes the socket to extend (140) beyond said volume (150) into an extended position (270), allowing user-access to said socket (170). Advantageously, during normal active usage, the socket (170) is retracted within the volume enclosed by the body of the computing device (110).

  • Publication number: 20070153446
Abstract: Mobile computing apparatus includes a portable computer (101) having a display module (105) and an arrangement (500) for providing illumination in the display module, the arrangement including a light source (222) external to the display module, a light guide (223) for guiding light from the light source toward the display module and a coupler (501) for coupling light from the light guide into the display module. The arrangement may be attached to a docking station (200) adapted to receive the portable computer.
