  • Patent number: 4471610
Abstract: A method for controlling intake throttling for a diesel engine provided with an exhaust gas soot catcher, which also has an intake throttling valve for restricting intake air, thus heating the exhaust gases for purging the soot catcher. The intake throttling valve is controlled by selecting a target opening amount for the intake throttling valve, and by altering the actual opening amount of the intake throttling valve, if substantially different from this target opening amount, in the direction of the target opening amount. The rate of change of the actual opening amount of the intake throttling valve is made to be greater when the difference between the actual opening amount of the intake throttling valve and the target opening amount for the intake throttling valve is greater, and is smaller when the difference between the actual opening amount of the intake throttling valve and the target opening amount is smaller. Apparatus is also described for controlling an intake throttling valve in this manner.

  • Patent number: 4471611
Abstract: A method for intake throttling for a diesel engine provided with an exhaust gas soot catcher, which also has an intake throttle valve for restricting intake air, thus heating the exhaust gases for purging the soot catcher. When the soot catcher is clogged with soot, throttling operation of the intake throttling valve is commenced after a first time period has elapsed after the point which represents the current operational condition of the diesel engine in a phase space whose dimensions are certain operating parameters of the diesel engine has transited from a first region representing non intake throttling combinations of these certain operating parameters to a second region, the complement of the first region, representing intake throttling combinations of these operating parameters; and/or such throttling operation of the intake throttling valve is ceased after a second time period has elapsed after this point has transited to this first region from this second region.

  • Patent number: 4467601
Abstract: A diesel engine is provided with an air throttle valve fitted in its intake system, which when operated to provide throttling action decreases the air flow in the intake system of the engine and increases the temperature of the exhaust gases of the engine, in order to heat up a soot particle catcher fitted to the exhaust system which thus is purged by combusting the accumulation of soot particles in it. When the air throttle valve is thus throttling the intake system and thus raising the temperature of the exhaust gases so as to purge the soot particle catcher, the amount of throttling provided by the air throttle valve is controlled, by comparing the pressure in the intake system downstream of the air throttle valve with a certain reference pressure, so as to keep this pressure in the intake system downstream of the air throttle valve substantially the same as this reference pressure.

  • Patent number: 4403322
Abstract: A voice signal converting device is adapted for a digital communication network which handles digitized voice signals and data signals simultaneously or equally. A bit for discriminating whether a signal in communication is a voice signal or a data signal is applied in a digital signal channel. The voice signal converting device is connected to a digital communication path to detect the discrimination bit from the incoming signal in such a manner that when a bit group corresponding to the discrimination bit represents the voice signal, the bit group is converted into a predeterminedly correlated bit group and delivered out and when the bit group corresponding to the discrimination bit represents the data signal, this bit group is delivered out in its original form.
