  • Patent number: 5287607
Abstract: A method and apparatus for finishing a surface of a commutator of a motor, in which a distance between a surface to be finished and a reference position is measured in advance prior to the surface-finishing, and thereafter, turning, cutting or buffing is performed. The data of distance measuring is utilized for the surface-finishing later. Opposite ends of a shaft of the commutator are supported and the supported ends are rotated at uniform speeds. The commutator during the turning is variably controlled in accordance with a turning position.

  • Patent number: 5100071
Abstract: A motor armature core coil winding machine comprising a rotating spindle carrying a flier arm at its free end by way of a flier mounting block, a wire guide block rotatably and coaxially supported by the flier mounting block by way of a stub shaft fixedly secured to the wire guide block, an intermediate shaft rotatably supported by the flier arm mounting block in parallel with the spindle, a first endless belt passed around a first pulley fixedly secured to a fixed member coaxially with the spindle and a second pulley fixedly secured to an end of the intermediate shaft, and a second endless belt passed around a third pulley fixedly secured to the other end of the intermediate shaft and a fourth pulley fixedly and coaxially secured to a stub shaft of the wire guide block. Thus, even though the wire guide block is mounted on a free end portion of a spindle which rotates integrally with a flier, the wire block is kept stationary, and can maintain a spaced and fixed relationship with the armature core.

  • Patent number: 5080295
Abstract: A wire tensioner, for feeding wire from a wire source to a wire handling machine such as a coil winding machine, comprising a tension pulley coupled with an output shaft of a motor via a clutch such as an electromagnetic powder clutch with a variable torque transmission capability. Wire is passed around the tension pulley which is turned by the motor in the direction opposite to the feeding direction of the wire. By controlling the torque transmission ratio of the clutch, the tension of the wire is controlled with a fast response. This tensioner can be advantageously used for a motor coil winding machine to removing any slacking in the coil wire and improving the wire density of the motor coils.

  • Patent number: 5029619
Abstract: A monitoring system for a wire handling machine, comprising a measuring unit for measuring an amount of wire consumption by the wire handling machine, and a control unit including memory for storing an expected amount of wire consumption for each of steps carried out by the wire handling machine, and a CPU having the functions of comparing an actual amount of wire consumption as detected by the measuring unit with a corresponding value stored in the memory, and producing an output indicative of a fault in the wire handling machine when any deviation exceeding a certain limit is detected between the actual amount of wire consumption and the corresponding value stored in the memory. Thus, the operating condition of the wire handling machine such as a motor armature coil winding machine can be accurately evaluated by the amount of wire consumption which can be easily measured with a simple device for measurement, for instance by using a rotary encoder coupled with a pulley around which the wire is passed.

  • Patent number: 4908541
Abstract: A stator coil of a generator for vehicles is provided with a stator coil construction and method for winding the stator coil around the core. The coil is wound around the stator core so that a portion of the stator coil projects from one or both sides of the stator core in the axial (longitudinal) direction of the core. The projecting portion of the stator coil closely surrounds the rotor core and is composed of inner and outer wire batches between which are formed slits which permit cooling air to pass therethrough and cool the coil more efficiently. The cooling air is generated by a fan which is attached to the rotor core facing the inner surface of the projecting portion of the stator coil.

  • Patent number: 4857790
Abstract: A winding pattern for a motor rotor comprising an armature mounted on a rotary shaft and provided with a plurality of longitudinal slots defined a plurality of core teeth; a commutator mounted on the rotary shaft at a longitudinally spaced relationship to the armature and provided with circumferentially divided segments; and one or more sets of coils wound around the core teeth through the core slots. The very first starting lead of the set of coils comprises a first span which extends from a first commutator segment into a first core slot, a second span which extends out of the first core slot and is wrapped around the rotary shaft at a part opposite to the commutator with respect to the armature, a third span which is passed through a second core slot from the second span towards the commutator, a fourth span which extends out of the second core slot and is wrapped around a part of the rotary shaft intermediate between the armature and the commutator over a certain angle.
