  • Patent number: 6109901
Abstract: A vane-type rotary compressor has a compression chamber delimited by a cylinder and front and rear covers secured to opposite ends of the cylinder. The front cover accommodates main and auxiliary shaft seal parts held in contact with a drive shaft. A space defined between the two shaft seal parts communicates with a suction stroke portion of the compression chamber via at least one bypass passage. Accordingly, the pressure and temperature acting on the main shaft seal part are substantially the same as those acting on the suction stroke portion, thus reducing the pressure and temperature on the main shaft seal part.

  • Patent number: 4958504
Abstract: The present invention provides an air conditioning apparatus for use in an automobile which employs a cross-flow fan as a ventilator, so that the apparatus is made thinner. The apparatus of the present invention is provided with a first and a second stabilizer, and accordingly a compulsory vortex of the air which is effective to feed the air is able to be stabilized. Moreover, a rear guider and an upper diffuser are provided in the surface opposite to the stabilizers with respect to the cross-flow fan, with enhancing the stabilization of the air flow. The reduction of the air flow amount and/or the generation of noises because of the vortex of the air can be consequently prevented. In the automobile air conditioning apparatus of the present invention, an evaporator has its upper end arranged to be inclined towards the cross-flow fan, so that the air flow into the cross-flow fan runs smoothly.

  • Patent number: 4898003
Abstract: An automobile air conditioner which has a generally elongated casing having air intake and outlet grilles defined at opposite sides thereof, a generally elongated evaporator accommodated within the casing so as to extend generally parallel to the direction of elongation of the casing and positioned adjacent the air intake grille, at least one cross-flow fan accommodated within the casing so as to extend generally parallel to the direction of elongation of the casing and positioned between the evaporator and the air outlet grille, and a drive unit for driving the cross-flow fan in one direction for blowing air from the inlet grille to the air outlet grille. The evaporator is supported in position within the casing in a tilted fashion with its upper edge towards the cross-flow fan.

  • Patent number: 4486158
Abstract: A sliding vane type rotary compressor, of which refrigerating capacity at the high speed operation of the compressor is suppressed by making use of suction loss involved when refrigerant pressure in the vane chamber becomes lower than the pressure of the refrigerant supply source in the suction stroke of the compressor. The compressor has a rotor, vanes slidably carried by the rotor, a cylinder accommodating the rotor and the vane, side plates fixed to both sides of the cylinder for closing both open ends of the vane chambers defined by the rotor, vanes and the cylinder, and suction and discharge ports serving as passages for communicating the vane chambers with the outside of the compressor. A spacer for adjustment of the refrigerating capacity is disposed in the suction port.

  • Patent number: 4459090
Abstract: A compressor adapted for capacity control includes a rotor mounting thereon vanes slidably, a cylinder receiving therein the rotor and the vanes, side plates secured to the opposite sides of the cylinder, a vane chamber defined by the vane, rotor and the cylinder and closed at its sides by the side plates, suction ports and a discharge port. Suction loss produced when the pressure within the vane chamber becomes below the pressure of the refrigerant supply source during a suction stroke is utilized for suppressing the refrigerating capacity of the compressor at high speed operation. With the arrangement of the compressor, the effective area of the flow passage leading to the vane chamber from the suction ports varies in at least two stages such that it becomes smaller in the latter half of the suction stroke than in the former half thereof. Thus, in the compressor, driving torque can be reduced at low speed operation and adequate effects of capacity control can be obtained at high speed operation.
