  • Publication number: 20040173942
Abstract: A method of the present invention is a method for processing a multilayer material, in which one or more conductor layers and insulating layers are layered, with a laser beam. The method includes the step of irradiating the conductor layer with a first laser beam to form a hole at a processing point in the conductor layer, and the step of irradiating the hole with a second laser beam to process the insulating layer, layered on the conductor layer. The second laser beam has a smaller beam diameter at the processing point than the first laser beam.

  • Publication number: 20020165030
Abstract: The objective is to prevent erroneous operation of an optical sensor while removing restrictions on the degree of freedom of design. In a handgun-shaped controller comprising a lens for focusing light that is incident on a muzzle and an optical sensor 18 for detecting the thus-focused light, a light-proof case 50 is provided to cover the lens and optical sensor in such a manner that external light other that from a muzzle is not incident thereon. The light-proof case covers the entire surface of the optical sensor and the portion of the board on which the optical sensor is mounted. Cut-out portions 54A and 54B for through-holes for signal terminals 19 are provided in a connection portion between parts 50A and 50B that form the light-proof case. A protuberant portion is provided on the connection portion of one part 50A and a fit portion thereof is provided in the connection of another part 50B.

  • Patent number: 5376104
Abstract: In a defibrillator with an electrocardiographic monitor which monitors electrocardiographic signals induced at electrodes by means of a preamplifier and supplying the signals to an electrocardiographic signal processing circuit through high-pass filters, the dynamic range of a preamplifier is made wider in accordance with the amplitude of a polarization voltage which is developed when a defibrillator is operated. A high-pass filter is formed of a first high-pass filter which operates in a normal state and a second high-pass filter whose blocking frequency is higher than that of the first high-pass filter so that the polarization voltage is attenuated without erasing the electrocardiographic signals. The second high-pass filter is operated in synchronization with the operation of the defibrillator during a time period corresponding to the time period in which the polarization voltage is generated.

  • Patent number: 5291171
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for producing a magnetic field in a space between two oppositely arranged permanent magnet discs, which is suitable for use in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). An object of the invention is to reduce the size and weight of the yoke connecting the two permanent magnet discs without causing magnetic saturation of the yoke in view of the fact that magnetic saturation of the yoke leads to the appearance of leakage flux and consequential lowering of the uniformity of the magnetic field. The object is accomplished by regulating the cross-sectional area of the whole magnetic path in the yoke, A.sub.y, such that the following equation holds: A.sub.y =1/a.times.A.sub.m B.sub.m /B.sub.ys, where A.sub.m is the cross-sectional area of magnetic path in each permanent magnet disc, B.sub.m is the magnetic flux density in each permanent magnet disc at normal temperature, B.sub.

  • Patent number: 5211689
Abstract: The invention is a water-activating particle casing with an annular float. The casing has openings to allow washing water to flow in and out from the casing and contact the water-activating particles contained therein, thereby increasing the cleaning capability of the washing water circulating in a washing vessel. The annular float is made of closed cell rubber, and surrounds a portion of the body of the casing, thereby permitting the casing to float and ride on the swirling circulation of washing water in the washing vessel. Thus, the water-activating particles can be effectively exposed to circulating washing water to permit their surface activities to be used to their limit in washing.

  • Patent number: 4832484
Abstract: An apparatus for determining the concentration of a light-absorbing material contained in blood flowing through a tissue which minimizes the amount of error caused by noise and which ensures highly precise results at all times. The apparatus operates according the principle that light beams of different wavelengths are absorbed by different amounts when passing through the tissue at different portions of the blood pulsation cycle. A plurality of points are detected that fall in the vicinity of the peak and trough of a cycle of a light detection signal. For each wavelength of light, the values of the detection signals produced at each of these points in time is stored. The concentration of the light-absorbing material is computed in response to the stored detection signals.
