  • Patent number: 6610949
Abstract: A compact, lightweight and low-cost operating apparatus for a switchgear include a second cam (50) turned counterclockwise by an electric motor begins to maintain contact with a closing lever (37) at a first angular position (POS1), turns the closing lever (37) counterclockwise to energize a circuit-making coil spring (77), and causes a closing latch (48) to lock the closing lever (37). The second cam (50) further turning counterclockwise becomes separated from the closing lever (37) and actuates a cam switch (156) at a second angular position (POS2) to interrupt an electric current supplied to the electric motor. The second cam (50) further turns due to inertial turning of the electric motor and is braked by a elastic brake member (159) at a third angular position (POS3), whereby the second cam (50) stops within a specific angular range &Dgr;&thgr; of rotation. Despite its simple structure, the elastic brake member (159) can halt the second cam (50) in a reliable fashion.

  • Patent number: 6563067
Abstract: A make break switchgear includes a first breaking lever receiving a torque in a counterclockwise direction, a second breaking lever connected through a linkage to the first breaking lever, and a making lever receiving a torque in a clockwise direction. These elements are supported by a main shaft and are rotatable. When a circuit is completely opened by the switchgear, a guide guiding a rotor on an arched surface is engaged with a first releasing latch. It is unnecessary to wait for engagement between the first releasing latch and the guide after the circuit is closed for opening the switchgear, and a subsequent opening can be immediately started. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the time from the closing of a make break contact to starting of the next opening.

  • Patent number: 6316739
Abstract: A device for controlling a breaker comprising a weight (48) provided in the vicinity of a releasing trigger (19) and an auxiliary spring (50 )for urging the weight (48) so that the weight (48)is in contact with the releasing trigger (19). An equivalent mass of the weight (48)is about one-third of an equivalent mass of the releasing trigger. When the releasing trigger (19)is in contact with a pin (45) of a releasing latch (18), the weight (48)rebounds but the releasing trigger (19)is settled without rebounding. By such a structure, the rebound of releasing latch and the releasing trigger is prevented when these are engaged, whereby a time for closing a circuit is shortened.

  • Patent number: 5687204
Abstract: In a method of and an apparatus for checking the degradation of the pressure vessel of a nuclear reactor with the pressure vessel of the nuclear reactor being directly measured in a non-destructive manner, a magnetic yoke having an exciting coil and a magnetic flux measuring coil is closely placed in contact with the inner wall of the pressure vessel of the nuclear reactor. The hysteresis magnetization characteristics of the closed magnetic path formed by the magnetic yoke and the pressure vessel of the nuclear reactor are measured. The coercive forces are obtained by the hysteresis characteristics. The hardness of the material comprising the pressure vessel of the nuclear reactor at the part of the magnetic path formed in the pressure vessel of the nuclear reactor is obtained from the coercive forces and the degradation of the material comprising the pressure vessel is checked from the hardness.

  • Patent number: 5544207
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for measuring the thickness of the overlay clad of the pressure vessel of a nuclear reactor with good accuracy are disclosed. A magnetic yoke having an appropriate length and cross-sectional area of the magnetic path is placed closely in contact with the surface of the overlay clad of the pressure vessel of the nuclear reactor to form a magnetic path by the magnetic yoke and the pressure vessel of the nuclear reactor, the magnetic yoke is magnetized, the distribution of the magnetic field on or near the surface of the overlay clad in contact with which the magnetic yoke is closely placed is measured and the thickness of the overlay clad of the pressure vessel of the nuclear reactor is identified from the medium value or the half value width of the distribution of the magnetic field thus measured.

  • Patent number: 5387773
Abstract: In a stationary contact unit of a gas circuit breaker, an arc-quenching cylinder for passing an arc-quenching insulation gas is formed in a substantially semicircular shape, and the stationary contact unit is supported by an insulation frame which is disposed beneath the dent part of the semicircular portion of the arc-quenching cylinder. The insulation frame is prevented from the degradation of dielectric strength between the stationary contact unit and a grounded tank, and the size of the gas circuit breaker is decreased.
