  • Patent number: 5038463
Abstract: The vehicular driving shaft is oriented and conveyed vertically around to plural assembling stations where component parts of a first joint unit are assembled to a lower end of the shaft whereupon the shaft is reversed and the component parts of the second joint unit are thereafter assembled to the now lower other end of the shaft. Plural carriers hold the shaft vertically as they are driven intermittently to plural stations, each station having an appropriate assembling device, the stations being grouped to first assemble the first joint unit and then to assemble the second.

  • Patent number: 4926972
Abstract: The diametrically larger end of a boot abutted on the open end of a joint unit on a vertical posture driving shaft is separated from the open end and held there while a liquid such as a grease is injected through the opening thus created. The end of the boot is then fitted over the outer periphery of said open end. A boot opening/closing device for doing so includes a vertically movable clamping member for clamping the boot at a portion adjacent the larger end, moving it away from the open end, holding it there during injection of the liquid by a movable nozzle and fitting it.

  • Patent number: 4899437
Abstract: An assembly station has plural roller assembling units mounted each aligned with one of the axes of the projections on a spider fitted to a shaft which is held in position at the station. A roller setting jig and an outer member assembling jig are alternately moveable to an assembly position at the station in line with an axis of the shaft. The roller setting jig includes a jig body vertically moveable along the axial direction of the shaft and a setting member on the jig body having holding portions for detachably holding the rollers to be assembled. The outer member assembling jig includes an outer member jig body vertically moveable along the axial direction of the shaft and a chuck member on the jig body for clamping the outer member.

  • Patent number: 4884327
Abstract: A jig body on an assemlbing jig is vertically aligned with the shaft upon which the boot is to be mounted and is movable forward and away from the shaft along an axial line thereof. A seat mounted on the leading end of the jig body receives an inner end face of the boot. A guide sleeve mounted on the jig body projectable forward of the seat is normally retained forcibly forward of the seat predetermined length approximately equal to the length of the bead and is shaped to be fitted over the shaft and into the bead of the boot. A guide shaft mounted in the guide sleeve is slidable axially rearward relative to the sleeve and is shaped to abut against and center the end face of the driving shaft. A push rod is inserted in the jig body for urging the guide shaft axially forwardly. The push rod is provided with a restricting portion for restricting the axially forward sliding stroke of the guide sleeve to a predetermined extent. A first cylinder urges the jig body forward axially.

  • Patent number: 4580430
Abstract: A torsional molding apparatus for arranging each crank pin of a crank shaft at a predetermined angular position wherein a plurality of crank pins are arranged on the same plane passing through an axis of the crank shaft. The apparatus comprises posts on a fixed support bed, a vertically movable cushion bed, a vertically movable bed arranged above the cushion bed, a fixed lower mold and a fixed upper mold secured to the cushion bed and vertically movable bed, respectively, a rotatable lower mold and a rotatable upper mold rotatably carried on the cushion bed and vertically movable bed rotatably about the axis of the crank shaft, and arms integrally and outwardly projected from the rotatable lower mold and placed in abutment with the upper ends of the posts.

  • Patent number: 4316374
Abstract: A method of manufacturing seamless wheel rims while maintaining a predetermined outside diameter dimension and predetermined cross-sectional shape of the rims at a high precision, without requiring any correcting work. A ring-shaped material is interposed between a rotatable die having a surface corresponding to an outer peripheral shape of a wheel rim and a rotatable pressing roll provided within the die, either of the die or roll is driven to rotate, and the pressing roll is moved toward the die so as to roll and shape the material, while restraining the outside diameter dimension by the die.

  • Patent number: 4241596
Abstract: An apparatus for roll-forming a blank ring into an annular product such as a seamless wheel rim. The apparatus includes an annular die rotatably supported in a die head, and a pressure roll rotatably supported in a roll head and movable toward and away from the annular die. The apparatus further includes a cylinder unit for moving the pressure roll radially of the annular die when the pressure roll is in the annular die, whereby the blank ring can be interposed between the pressure roll and the annular die. As the die is rotated, the blank ring is roll-formed between the roll and the die into an annular ring, which then is confined in the annular die and can be taken out when the die is disassembled into a plurality of segments. The product thus formed has a high degree of circularity and precision, and is free from distortions.
